Job summary

Montana Department of Transportation invites two Survey Interns to join the MDT Internship Program for summer 2027. Interns will work full-time, travel across Montana to collect survey data, and support our survey staff in control, topographic, cadastral, hydraulics, bathymetric surveys and photogrammetry projects.

Training includes field data collection and post-processing in AutoCAD and Trimble software. Minimum requirement is enrollment in college with 60 credit hours by spring 2027;

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in College/University
• Minimum 60 credit hours by spring 2027
• Majors: Civil Engineering, Land Surveying, GIS, Geospatial, Photogrammetry

Responsibilities

• Support full-time survey staff with control, engineering (topographic), cadastral, hydraulics, bathymetric surveys and photogrammetry.
• Assist in field data collection across Montana project locations.
• Use total station, robotic survey, GPS, CAD (AutoCAD, Trimble Business Center) for data collection and post-processing.
