Actalent is seeking a Survey Field Technician II (Instrument Person) to support a field survey crew and grow their career within a respected engineering and surveying organization.

You will work with a Crew Chief, performing field surveying tasks, ensuring data accuracy, safety, and regulatory compliance on projects across water, energy, transportation, land development, buildings, health care, and education.

Qualifications

  • 1 to 2+ years of surveying experience in field operations.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience working as part of a survey crew, supporting land surveying and topographic survey activities.
  • Ability to operate GPS and total stations, including Trimble equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and data documentation.
  • Must have a valid driver\'s license and an acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to successfully complete a drug test.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites and work outdoors in varying conditions.
  • Interest in ALTA surveys and engineering-focused surveying is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Crew Chief in the daily operation of a field survey crew.
  • Operate GPS, total stations, and related tools to accurately collect field data.
  • Collect, record, and verify topographic and land survey data accurately.
  • Ensure all work meets regulatory requirements, project specifications, and internal quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following safety procedures and using equipment properly.
  • Protect, clean, and maintain survey equipment and vehicles.
  • Support survey tasks for land development, ALTA surveys, and related analysis.
  • Communicate effectively with the Crew Chief and team to coordinate field activities.
  • Represent the survey team professionally when interacting with property owners and contractors.
  • Travel to project sites as needed, including occasional overnight stays.
  • Walk extensively outdoors year-round over diverse terrain and weather conditions.
