Job summary

Widseth is seeking a Land Survey Technician to assist with field survey operations on a variety of projects, including construction staking, boundary, ALTA, and topographic surveys. You’ll gain hands-on experience with modern surveying technology while working with experienced professionals and developing technical skills for growth within the industry.

Associate degree in Land Surveying or related field (or equivalent experience) and 1+ year field experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• 1+ years of survey field experience preferred.
• Familiarity with survey equipment and software, including Trimble, Leica, Topcon, or similar platforms.
• Basic understanding of boundary surveys, construction staking/layout, and topographic surveys.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality.
• Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds and navigate uneven terrain.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Assist with field survey operations, including equipment setup, data collection, and documentation.
• Perform construction staking, topographic, boundary, ALTA, and infrastructure surveys under the direction of project surveyors and crew chiefs.
• Collect accurate field data using GPS/GNSS equipment, total stations, and data collectors.
• Maintain organized and complete field notes, records, and electronic data.
• Perform quality checks on field measurements and survey data.
• Interpret survey plats, legal descriptions, maps, and construction plans.
• Assist with troubleshooting, maintenance, and calibration of survey equipment.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, surveyors, and CAD technicians to support project delivery.
• Follow established safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment.
• Continuously develop technical skills and knowledge of surveying practices and technology.
