Job summary

Pennoni is seeking a Field Technician in Virginia Beach, VA to support our land surveying operations on a full-time, direct-hire basis. You will lead a field crew on boundary, topographic, construction, and engineering projects, using total stations, GPS, and robotic instruments.

Ideal candidates have a High School Diploma and 4+ years in field surveying or construction, with a valid driver’s license and willingness to work in the field under varied conditions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; 4+ years of Field/Land Surveying or Construction experience.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Lead a field survey crew in geodetic surveys for boundary, topographic, construction, and engineering projects.
• Maintain proficiency with total stations, data collectors, GPS systems, and robotic instruments.
• Gather field data by conventional, robotic, GPS, and aerial methods (e.g., drones).
• Operate surveying instruments (prisms, total stations, GPS/ EDM, auto-levels) and adjust as needed.
• Prepare field notes and drawings for complex survey calculations.
• Instruct/train crew in surveying methods, equipment use, and field safety.
• Perform computations and QA/QC checks.
• Safely operate ATV/UTV and similar vehicles as required.
• Deliver high-quality work and excellent customer service; support both field and end-product deliverables.
• Additional tasks may be assigned.
