Job summary

GBA Companies is seeking a Party Chief to lead a survey crew in the Round Rock, TX area. You will oversee field operations, collect data, operate instruments, and ensure safety and accuracy across projects.

You will work closely with project managers and office teams, solving problems, maintaining records, and mentoring crew members to uphold high surveying standards. This role offers field exposure and opportunities for growth within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 5+ years relevant experience or an equivalent education/experience mix.
• 2+ years of field experience.
• Advanced knowledge of surveying principles, field instruments, data collection tools, and software.
• Ability to interpret engineering, construction, and survey plans.
• Experience planning, coordinating, and completing complex field surveys independently.
• Strong mathematical skills for field calculations and problem solving.
• Ability to guide field crews and maintain survey standards.
• Strong communication and coordination with field and office teams.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities; commitment to continuing technical development and certifications.

Responsibilities

• Lead the crew and coordinate daily field survey operations to keep projects on track.
• Get the details right by performing field surveys and collecting accurate data.
• Know your equipment: operate, maintain, and calibrate survey instruments and software.
• Identify discrepancies, troubleshoot field challenges, and keep work moving.
• Prioritize safety and enforce procedures on site.
• Stay connected by communicating progress with project managers and office staff.
• Maintain quality records: field notes, sketches, maintenance logs, and survey data.
• Share knowledge: guide crew members and propagate best practices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
