Surveying And Mapping, LLC (SAM) is seeking a Survey Crew Chief/Survey Party Chief for construction staking to lead field crews and interpret construction drawings on-site in Austin, TX. Qualifications

• 5+ years of industry experience; prior crew chief experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to meet MVR standards.
• Experience with Trimble equipment preferred.
• Strong math, technical and communication skills.
• Able to work outdoors year-round and carry up to 80 lbs.
• Able to travel/stay out of town for work as needed.

Responsibilities

• Supervise a land survey crew for field operations (boundary, topographic, construction layout).
• Determine efficient plan of action for data acquisition.
• Read construction drawings/plans and understand project specs/tolerances.
• Communicate with project managers, engineers, and technicians on schedule and progress.
• Interact professionally with client representatives and landowners.
• Anticipate, prevent, and solve problems within authority.
• Document field notes, sketches, and communications.
• Prepare daily reports and time sheets.
• Maintain surveying vehicle and field equipment.
• Follow safety procedures and company policies.
