Job summary

Civil Design, Inc. (CDI) is seeking a Civil Engineering Intern to support our Building Stronger Communities mission across Site, Transportation, Structures and Water Resources. Under supervision, you will assist surveying, boundary and topographic tasks, and contribute to design projects while learning Trimble and GPS workflows.

The internship emphasizes collaboration, field work, and safety. You’ll work 30-40 hours weekly, start early around 6–7 am, travel up to 15% and gain hands-on experience

Qualifications

• Ability to provide 30-40 hours per week with start around 6-7 am.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S.
• Work in outdoor elements.
• Be a part of a team and contribute.
• Communicate clearly and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Perform boundary surveys to establish legal boundaries for properties.
• Perform topographic surveys providing data relevant to contours of ground and existing features.
• May perform construction surveys for municipal, private and roadway projects.
• Utilize Trimble Robotic, Conventional and GPS equipment, Leica 3D Scanning equipment and survey data collection software to take measurements and collect relevant information.
• Perform daily import of all field collected data.
• Maintain accurate, detailed and professional field notes.
• Perform general equipment maintenance.
• Adhere to safety policies, procedures and requirements of CDI.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• 10 -15% travel.
• Great if pursuing a degree in survey, geography or survey drafting.
