Dewberry is seeking an experienced Survey Instrument Operator to join our Land Surveying department in the Gainesville, VA area as a Land Survey Technician. This role supports boundary, ALTA, topographic, right-of-way, transmission line, transportation, and construction surveys using the latest equipment, with potential to supervise or work independently.

Qualifications

• Two years of survey experience required.
• High School Diploma is required.
• Strong mathematical skills are essential.
• Proficient with Topcon and Trimble survey equipment.
• Proficient with Carlson SurvCE and Trimble Survey Controller data-collection software.
• Good communication skills are required.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and pass a driving record check.
• Must be able to pass a drug test.
• Must be dependable and able to travel for extended periods.
• Physically capable of working outdoors on construction sites in varied weather and terrain.

Responsibilities

• Assist the field supervisor with all aspects of the daily crew workload.
• Work safely and follow all safety regulations.
• Supervise the survey crew in the absence of the crew chief.
• Work independently as a one-person crew when required.
• Daily uploading and downloading of data collectors.
• Daily care and charging of instrumentation.
• Continually advance knowledge with upgrades in technology.
