Job summary

Central Michigan University seeks an University Coordinator/Student Teacher Supervisor to provide field supervision for Spring 2027 teacher candidates across Michigan. Coordinators oversee placements, observations, and evaluations while coordinating with PK-12 partners and CMU faculty.

The role is appointed per semester with workloads not exceeding 11 candidates, requiring collaboration, organization, and strong communication to uphold CMU leadership standards.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in education or related field.
• Valid teaching certificate.
• Five years of teaching or administrative experience in the PK-12 school structure.
• Experience with teacher evaluation systems and providing feedback for improvement.
• Exceptionally strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Capacity to plan, establish priorities, and handle multiple tasks within a set time line.
• Strong technology skills; ability to learn and use new software systems.
• Ability to perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.

Responsibilities

• Participate in coordinator meetings, professional development, and online trainings.
• Follow master syllabus and utilize cohort time for collaboration and interventions.
• Support candidates’ growth through field observations and problem-solving.
• Complete required paperwork by deadlines.
• Coordinate placements, scheduling, and materials with the Associate Director or designee.
• Represent CMU positively to PK-12 stakeholders and maintain district procedures.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of school policies and legislation.
