Job summary

American Engineering Testing, Inc. (AET) is seeking a Field Supervisor in Schofield, Wisconsin to oversee day-to-day technical operations on projects, ensuring safety, on-time delivery, and budget adherence.

You will interface with clients and technicians and mentor staff while supporting department growth and financial management. The role requires supervising field/lab staff, maintaining data integrity, and ensuring compliance with AET and industry standards.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and schedule field and/or laboratory staff to ensure coverage and timely project execution.

Job Summary

The Field Supervisor at American Engineering Testing, Inc. (AET) is r esponsible for overseeing the day-to-day technical operations on projects, ensuring the project is completed safely, on time, and within budget by being the interface between client and technicians acting as a source matter expert when called upon. Will be able to interpret project plans as well as demonstrate exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Direct and oversee staff activities in accordance with the company’s plan. Assist in developing department technical capability and facilitating growth. Assist in the management of department financials. Responsible for providing work direction and daily supervision of assigned department staff.

  • Supervise and schedule field and/or laboratory staff to ensure adequate coverage, efficient resource use, and timely project execution.
  • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance for field/lab procedures, reports, and data integrity in accordance with AET and industry standards (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO, CCRL).
  • Problem solve with little specifications or direction.
  • Conduct field, laboratory and office activities in a manner consistent with federal, state, and local regulations, along with AET’s QA and Health and Safety Policies, to promote the safety and protection of employees, clients and the public.
  • Complete higher-complexity technical work.
  • Properly use and maintain company instruments and equipment.
  • Coordinate with other AET offices, departments, and staff with the ultimate goal of increasing efficiency, productivity and communication.
  • Write and review data completing reporting.
  • Client management
  • Assign/schedule ensure optimal usage of assets.
  • Monitor and train staff as needed to maintain project quality/service and limit risk.
  • Coach and mentor employees as needed.
  • Work proactively to develop and maintain a positive working environment within the department.
  • Monitor financial performance according to budget.
  • Participate in or lead root cause investigations, safety audits, and corrective actions when required.
  • Maintain valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record . Some positions may require use of personal vehicle for company business. Maintain compliance with DOT regulations if required for position.
  • Travel required within regional area and out of town.
  • Improve and maintain the quality of service and work product .
  • Perform other tasks as necessary to meet departmental or company goals.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has full day-to-day supervisory responsibility over field staff, including performance management, training, and day-to-day operational oversight.

Required Qualifications & Education

  • High school diploma or GED required; associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in construction materials testing, environmental consulting, geotechnical fieldwork, or related industry.

Preferred Skills

  • Strong understanding of field and laboratory testing standards (e.g., AASHTO, ASTM, DOT).
  • Proven ability to lead teams in fast-paced, high-standards environments.
  • Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
  • Comfortable using project tracking, timekeeping, and reporting software
  • ACI, NICET, or state-level technical certifications preferred.

Pay Transparency

Base compensation is expected to be in the range of $31.00 - $40.00 per hour based on skill set and experience. AET offers a comprehensive benefits package, including health benefits, insurance, Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP), long-term savings, paid time off, and professional development opportunities. The selected candidate must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship now or in the future.

This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This position will occasionally be required to operate in a field environment.
