Job summary

Network Datacom Solutions is seeking an experienced Field Supervisor with a strong background in low-voltage systems including A/V, Access Control, CCTV, and structured cabling. You will lead onsite crews to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to NDS quality standards.

This role serves as the primary on-site contact between field personnel and the Project Manager, requiring clear updates, documentation, and proactive communication about schedule, costs, and changes.

Qualifications

• Four+ years of verified experience in low-voltage installation across at least two areas (A/V, Access Control, CCTV, Security Alarm, cabling).
• Experience supervising field personnel or leading projects in low-voltage installations.
• Ability to read blueprints, floor plans, specs, and project scopes.
• Prefer working knowledge of commercial security platforms (Crestron, Brivo, HID, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Lead onsite crews to install, test, and document low-voltage systems.

Position Overview

Network Datacom Solutions is seeking an experienced, dependable, and motivated Field Supervisor with a strong background in low-voltage systems, including Audio Visual, Access Control, CCTV, Security Alarm, and Structured Cabling.

The Field Supervisor is responsible for leading onsite crews and ensuring assigned projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with the approved plans, specifications, scope of work, project schedule, and NDS quality standards.

This position serves as the primary onsite point of contact between field personnel and the Project Manager. The Field Supervisor must provide accurate daily updates, maintain complete project documentation, identify potential change-order work, and promptly communicate any issues that may affect the project’s cost, scope, schedule, or completion.

Minimum Requirements

• Four or more years of verified experience in low-voltage installation, including experience in at least two of the following areas: Audio Visual systems; Access Control systems; CCTV and security camera systems; Security Alarm and Intrusion Detection systems; Structured Cabling, including Cat6, fiber, and coax
• Previous experience supervising field personnel or leading low-voltage installation projects
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, floor plans, reflected ceiling plans, specifications, system schematics, and project scopes
• Working knowledge of, or experience with, systems such as Crestron, Logitech, Neat, Yealink, Brivo, Avigilon, Rhombus, HID, and commonly used commercial security alarm platforms is preferred
• Experience installing, wiring, testing, troubleshooting, and servicing security alarm panels, keypads, motion detectors, door and window contacts, glass-break detectors, sirens, and related alarm devices
• Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain accurate project documentation
• Valid Texas driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record
• Reliable transportation
• Ability to pass a background check and drug test as required

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform and supervise the installation, termination, testing, labeling, and documentation of structured cabling and low-voltage systems.
• Oversee the mounting, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and servicing of A/V, CCTV, access control, security alarm, and related equipment.
• Install and supervise the installation of security alarm panels, keypads, contacts, motion detectors, glass-break detectors, sirens, power supplies, and other intrusion-detection devices.
• Assist with programming, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting commercial security alarm systems within the employee’s training and authorization.
• Lead, direct, and coordinate field technicians, subcontractors, and other assigned personnel.
• Assign daily tasks and ensure crew members understand project requirements, priorities, and performance expectations.
• Ensure each project is completed according to the approved plans, specifications, scope of work, customer requirements, and project schedule.
• Review project plans and scope before and during installation to confirm that all required work is being completed correctly.
• Monitor project progress, labor usage, material needs, productivity, workmanship, and site conditions.
• Identify discrepancies between the plans, scope of work, and actual field conditions.
• Immediately notify the Project Manager of delays, conflicts, missing information, material shortages, access issues, safety concerns, or other conditions that may affect the project.
• Provide the Project Manager with complete and accurate daily updates regarding work completed; work remaining; crew size and labor activity; project progress and schedule status; materials received, installed, needed, or missing; site conditions and access limitations; customer or general contractor requests; delays, conflicts, and outstanding issues; planned work for the following day.
• Identify any work requested or required outside the approved project scope.
• Document and communicate potential change-order requests to the Project Manager before proceeding with additional work, unless otherwise directed.
• Clearly document the labor, materials, equipment, site conditions, customer requests, and reasons associated with each potential change order.
• Complete and submit all required project-update paperwork and documentation daily, including daily reports, progress updates, labor records, material records, test results, redlines, photographs, change-order documentation, and other assigned forms.
• Maintain accurate redline drawings and document field changes for the preparation of final as-built drawings.
• Submit clear and organized project photographs showing progress, completed work, concealed pathways, cable routing, equipment installation, labeling, and field conditions.
• Coordinate onsite activities with the Project Manager, customer, general contractor, other trades, and project stakeholders as required.
• Attend jobsite meetings and communicate relevant information to the Project Manager and assigned crew.
• Verify that technicians have the tools, equipment, materials, plans, and information needed to complete their assigned work.
• Inspect completed work regularly and correct quality issues before requesting customer or Project Manager approval.
• Ensure all cables, equipment, pathways, racks, panels, and devices are properly installed, supported, terminated, tested, dressed, and labeled.
• Ensure all installations comply with NDS standards, manufacturer requirements, applicable codes, project specifications, and safety requirements.
• Maintain an organized, professional, and safe jobsite.
• Enforce company policies, jobsite rules, safety procedures, and proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Track and protect company-owned and customer-provided tools, equipment, vehicles, and materials.
• Train, mentor, and evaluate technicians while providing clear direction and constructive feedback.
• Report employee performance, attendance, conduct, safety, or productivity concerns to the Project Manager or appropriate manager.
• Perform system testing, troubleshooting, punch-list completion, and final project closeout activities.
• Confirm that all assigned work, documentation, testing, labeling, cleanup, and closeout requirements are completed before leaving a project.
• Represent NDS professionally when communicating with customers, general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and other trades.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Expectations

• Take ownership of the project’s daily field operations.
• Plan work ahead and communicate upcoming labor, material, equipment, and access needs.
• Maintain consistent communication with the Project Manager throughout the project.
• Ensure field personnel remain productive and focused on assigned work.
• Address problems promptly and elevate issues before they cause avoidable delays or additional costs.
• Never authorize or perform out-of-scope work without properly documenting the request and receiving direction from the Project Manager.
• Maintain complete, timely, and accurate project records.
• Hold the assigned crew accountable for safety, quality, productivity, attendance, and professional conduct.

Physical and Working Conditions

• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to climb ladders and work safely at elevated heights.
• Must be able to stand, walk, bend, kneel, crouch, and perform physical installation work for extended periods.
• Work environments may include indoor offices, outdoor locations, warehouses, industrial facilities, construction areas, and active jobsites.
• Must be able to work in varying environmental conditions, including heat, cold, dust, noise, bright or dim lighting, and confined spaces.
• Must be available to work overtime, nights, weekends, or travel when required by project schedules.
