Trueline's client, a growing commercial flooring contractor serving hospitality, gaming, convention, and large-scale commercial construction projects nationwide, is seeking a Field Superintendent - Commercial Flooring to lead installation crews across the country. This is a travel-intensive field leadership role for an experienced flooring professional who has directly managed hourly employees, understands commercial installation inside and out, and knows how to keep crews productive without sacrificing quality.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who can take ownership of a jobsite, manage labor efficiently, coordinate with Project Managers and General Contractors, and drive successful installations from mobilization through punch and closeout.
What You'll Do as the Field Superintendent - Commercial Flooring:
- Lead day-to-day field operations for large commercial flooring installations nationwide
- Direct and manage hourly installation crews, including work assignments, productivity, attendance, and performance expectations
- Coordinate daily manpower needs based on schedule, scope, and production goals
- Maintain accountability for crew efficiency, quality, safety, and project execution
- Review project drawings, specifications, layouts, installation plans, and field conditions before work begins
- Coordinate installation sequencing with General Contractors, other trades, and internal Project Management
- Verify substrates, materials, site readiness, and installation conditions before crews begin work
- Identify field issues early and communicate RFIs, scope concerns, material needs, and schedule risks to the Project Manager
- Monitor labor hours and production rates against project budgets and efficiency targets
- Drive installation quality across carpet, resilient flooring, tile, specialty flooring, and related commercial applications
- Ensure materials, equipment, tools, and staging are organized to support uninterrupted production
- Maintain accurate daily field reports, manpower records, progress updates, and project documentation
- Conduct punch walks and ensure deficiencies are resolved quickly and professionally
- Enforce jobsite safety requirements and maintain clean, organized work areas
- Build productive relationships with clients, General Contractors, field teams, and internal leadership
- Travel nationwide for active installations, typically working approximately 6 weeks onsite followed by 1 week off
Must-Haves as the Field Superintendent - Commercial Flooring:
- 5+ years of commercial flooring installation, field supervision, or comparable construction leadership experience
- Strong knowledge of commercial flooring installation methods, materials, sequencing, and quality standards
- Direct experience supervising hourly employees and installation crews
- Experience managing labor productivity, production rates, and jobsite performance
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, flooring plans, specifications, and installation details
- Strong understanding of field scheduling, manpower planning, and trade coordination
- Ability to identify site-readiness, substrate, material, and installation issues before they disrupt production
- Strong leadership presence with the ability to hold crews accountable while maintaining a productive team environment
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively throughout the United States
- Comfortable with a travel schedule of approximately 6 weeks on the road followed by 1 week off
- Ability to remain responsive during active project installations, including occasional evenings or weekends as project conditions require
Nice-to-Haves as the Field Superintendent - Commercial Flooring:
- Hospitality, casino, hotel, convention center, or large-scale commercial flooring experience
- Experience managing crews on fast-track or occupied renovation projects
- Experience with carpet, LVT, VCT, sheet goods, tile, resilient flooring, and specialty flooring systems
- Experience supervising multiple flooring crews or large hourly labor teams
- Bluebeam or similar construction software experience
- OSHA 30 or other formal safety training
- Experience tracking labor efficiency against estimated production rates
- Background working closely with Project Managers on cost control, scheduling, and project closeout
