Job summary

Crest Industries’ DIS-TRAN Packaged Substations is seeking a Field Technician to support Factory-Built Substation installations. You will travel to customer sites, inspect products, and provide technical guidance on installation drawings and procedures.

The role blends field work with factory coordination and continuous improvement through lessons learned. Requirements include a high school diploma, 3+ years with DTPS, strong communication, and the ability to work across departments.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Minimum of three years of experience with DTPS.
• Knowledge of DTPS operations, processes, and structure.
• Ability to work across departments and manage multiple priorities.
• Independent work ethic with teamwork capability.

Responsibilities

• Pre-Installation Planning: review project scope, site conditions and installation requirements.
• Prepare customer installation packets with drawings and documentation.
• Coordinate shipment schedules and installation readiness in planning meetings.
• Develop and maintain pre-construction checklists and action items.
• Schedule pre-construction meetings about six weeks before equipment delivery.
• Field Installation Support: travel to customer sites to support DTPS installations.
• Inspect products for shipping damage, shortages, or field discrepancies.
• Provide technical support: explain drawings, procedures, and troubleshoot issues.
• Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality and PM to resolve field issues.
• Obtain photos/videos for field reports and lessons learned.
• Develop and maintain installation checklists and ensure onsite completion.
• Post-Installation: write field reports, review observations with QA director, identify improvements.
• Develop lessons-learned content and transfer to internal teams.
• Facility assignment: work non-travel priorities at manufacturing facility and coordinate with departments.
