Job summary

Carson City Public Works in Carson City, NV is hiring for a full-time maintenance worker to maintain and repair paved areas, lay asphalt, sidewalks, curbs and drainage structures. The role requires a valid Nevada Class C license now and a Class A with Tanker endorsement within 8 months, plus OSHA 10, Flagger certification, and a pre-employment physical and fit test.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, basic math and record-keeping skills, and the ability to operate hand and power

Qualifications

Equivalent to a High School education or GED; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Must possess a valid Class C Driver license; within 8 months, Nevada Class A with Tanker Endorsement.
OSHA 10 certification within 15 days; Flagger Certification within 8 months; pre-employment physical and respiratory fit test.
Knowledge of pavement maintenance, safety regulations and basic record keeping.

Responsibilities

Maintains and repairs paved areas by cleaning surfaces, laying and raking asphalt and striping pavement.
Assists in constructing forms, pouring concrete, sidewalks, curbs, gutters and drainage structures.
Uses tools and equipment; loads/unloads materials; keeps work areas clean and safe.
Constructs drainage structures and may lay underground piping; serves as a flagger on a crew.
Operates trucks and light construction equipment; observes safety and quality standards.
Responds to public questions/complaints and maintains basic records of work performed.
