Job summary

Chevron Shale & Tight Business – New Mexico region is seeking a Field Specialist B in Carlsbad, NM. The role focuses on monitoring and optimizing production variables, ensuring equipment reliability and efficiency, and collecting data.

Responsibilities include operating and maintaining oil and gas production equipment, testing wells, inputting data, and coordinating with teams to maximize performance. On-call and rotating shifts are required.

Qualifications

  • Must possess a valid driver's license and be legally able to operate in the United States.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • At least 6 months of current related experience in oil and gas or related petrochemical industries.
  • Willingness to work rotating on-call shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and optimize production process variables for peak reliability and efficiency.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain oil and gas production equipment.
  • Perform duties related to oil and gas operations, including artificial lift, testing wells, and data input.
  • Record information, monitor SCADA, and test safety devices.
  • Collaborate with coworkers and contractors to ensure equipment runs at peak performance.
  • Create work orders in CMMS for inventory and planning.
  • Ensure all work adheres to Chevron's Operational Excellence standards and regulatory requirements.

Job description

Chevron Shale & Tight Business – New Mexico region is accepting online applications for the position of Field Specialist B at Carlsbad, NM through 09/3/2026at 11:59 p.m. (Mountain Standard Time).

This position assumes the responsibility of monitoring and optimization of all production process variables, ensuring that all production equipment is operating at peak reliability and efficiency, and acquiring and storing data.

This job observes a 8/6 work schedule

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
  • Actively supports Health, Environment, and Safety processes by accomplishing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies, carrying out duties in an environmentally conscious manner, following safe operating practices as described in the MCBU Safe Practice Manual, maintaining a safe working environment, and being prepared to respond to an environmental or safety event

  • Operates, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains oil and gas production equipment

  • Perform duties (as detailed below) associated with oil and gas producing operations; including but not limited to plunger lift, rod pumping and flowing wells, and compressors:

    • Optimizing artificial lift systems.

    • Testing wells.

    • Acquires fluid-level information.

    • Records keeping and data input.

    • Monitor’s computer control systems.

    • Test’s safety devices.

    • Operates and monitors SCADA.

  • Partners with other employees, and contractors to ensure that all equipment is operating at peak efficiency

  • Utilizes a Computerized Maintenance Management System to create work orders for inventory and work planning/prioritization

  • Ensures all work performed adheres to Chevron's Operational Excellence standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Demonstrated Chevron Way behavior.

Required Qualifications:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent

  • A minimum of 6 months of current related experience in oil and gas, or related petrochemical industries

  • Ability and willingness to work rotating on-call shifts, weekends and holidays of assigned work schedule and overtime based on workload

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree in petroleum or Process Technology or related technology discipline

  • One-year current related experience in unconventional oil and gas operations

  • Familiarity with reliability efforts for a variety of safety, environmental and production related issues

  • Familiar with pneumatic/electronic instrumentation

  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of production and facility equipment

  • Basic knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), CMMS, SCADA, and an aptitude for learning new software packages

  • Capable of simultaneously performing multiple tasks with limited supervision

  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and internal and external customers

  • Ability to manage time effectively, and work with minimal supervision
