Job summary

Chevron Shale & Tight Business – New Mexico region is seeking a Field SpecialistA to monitor and optimize oil and gas production facilities in Hobbs, NM. The role includes operating and maintaining equipment, gathering data, and ensuring peak efficiency on a 14/14 night shift schedule.

The candidate should have at least 2 years in oil and gas, a high school diploma, and a valid driver’s license. Relocation benefits and potential incentives may be available.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Operate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain oil and gas production equipment.
  • Monitor SCADA and computer control systems.
  • Record keeping and data input; test safety devices.
  • Ensure compliance with Chevron's Operational Excellence standards and regulatory requirements.

Operates and monitors oil, water and gas production and distribution facilities, typically Upstream facilities from wells to primary separation and processing, and Midstream distribution/storage facilities (pipelines/terminals). Monitors process variables, troubleshoots, and performs interventions to maintain operating performance.

Performs work of medium complexity and may assist on projects. Receives close supervision only on non‑routine and critical aspects of work. General knowledge of Chevron policies and processes.

Chevron Shale & Tight Business – New Mexico region is accepting online applications for the position of Field SpecialistA at Hobbs, NM through9/1/2026at11:59p.m.(Mountain Standard Time).

This position assumes the responsibility of monitoring and optimization of all production process variables, ensuring that all production equipment is operating at peak reliability and efficiency, and acquiring and storing data.

This job observes a14/14(Residential or Rotational).

This schedule will be14/14dedicated to working night shift only.

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:
  • Actively supports Health, Environment, and Safety processes by accomplishing daily activities within applicable regulations and policies, carrying out duties in an environmentally conscious manner, following safe operating practices as described in the S&T B Control of Work, maintaining a safe working environment, and being prepared to respond to an environmental or safety event
  • Operates, troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains oil and gas production equipment
  • Responding to Environmental, Safety, & Productions concerns for both New Development and Legacy Base Routes
  • Perform duties (as detailed below) associated with oil and gas producing operations; including but not limited to Gas Lift Systems, High Pressure Gas Lift Systems, rod pumping and flowing wells, Dehy's and compressors: Optimizing artificial lift systems.
  • Testing wells.
  • Acquires fluid‑level information.
  • Records keeping and data input.
  • Monitor's computer control systems.
  • Test's safety devices.
  • Operates and monitors SCADA.
  • Partners with other employees, and contractors to ensure that all equipment is operating at peak efficiency
  • Utilizes a Computerized Maintenance Management System to create work orders for inventory and work planning/prioritization
  • Ensures all work performed adheres to Chevron's Operational Excellence standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated Chevron Way behavior.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
  • Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years of current related experience in oil and gas, or related petrochemical industries
  • Ability and willingness to work rotating on‑call shifts, weekends and holidays of assigned work schedule and overtime based on workload
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Three years' current related experience in Shale and Tight unconventional oil and gas operations
  • Familiarity with reliability efforts for a variety of safety, environmental and production related issues
  • Familiar with pneumatic/electronic instrumentation
  • Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance of production and facility equipment
  • Basic knowledge in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.), CMMS, SCADA, and an aptitude for learning new software packages
  • Capable of simultaneously performing multiple tasks with limited supervision
  • Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a diverse team of coworkers, contractors, and internal and external customers
  • Ability to manage time effectively, and work with minimal supervision
