Job description

Chevron is seeking experienced field representatives with a demonstrated ability to safely execute complex unconventional drilling operations, including horizontal wells exceeding 10,000 feet in lateral length. This role is responsible for ensuring safe, reliable, compliant, and high-performance drilling operations across Chevron's U.S. unconventional business, including operations in the Permian Basin, DJ Basin, Bakken, among others. This position also provides a unique opportunity to support Chevron’s global operations, particularly in Latin America. Given the potential for engagement with operations and stakeholders in countries such as Argentina and Venezuela, Spanish fluency is strongly preferred.

Chevron's U.S. unconventional portfolio encompasses some of the industry's most significant oil and gas developments, requiring operational excellence, procedural discipline, technical expertise, and strong leadership to achieve safe and efficient well delivery. The Drill Site Representative serves as Chevron's on-site leader responsible for directing daily drilling activities and ensuring compliance with all Chevron standards, procedures, and well integrity requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and supervise diverse drilling site teams in a safe, reliable, and environmentally responsible manner while delivering Operational Excellence.
  • Demonstrate and reinforce Chevron's commitment to procedural discipline by ensuring all work is planned, risk-assessed, and executed in accordance with approved procedures, standards, and permits.
  • Exercise and support Stop Work Authority, empowering all personnel to intervene and stop operations whenever safety, environmental, operational, or well integrity risks are identified.
  • Provide leadership and direction to rig contractors and service providers to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contractual obligations and Chevron requirements.
  • Manage all drilling operations and wellsite logistics to ensure reliable and efficient execution of the drilling program.
  • Foster a high-performance culture through the communication of performance expectations, benchmarking, operational metrics, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Promote a strong safety culture through visible leadership, hazard identification, risk mitigation, and active participation in safety processes.
  • Actively share lessons learned, best practices, and operational insights across drilling teams and business units.
  • Utilize digital technologies and performance tools including WellView®, Corva®, Polarion®, and other Chevron-approved applications to monitor and optimize drilling performance.
  • Ensure operational readiness using Plans of Action (POAs), checklists, verification processes, and assurance activities.
  • Communicate effectively with field personnel, engineering teams, contractors, and business partners while seeking and incorporating constructive feedback.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both English and Spanish is highly desirable to support field operations and contractor engagement.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including drilling, completions, subsurface, HSE, logistics, and facility personnel.
  • Ensure WellSafe requirements are always met to maintain well control, well integrity, and barrier assurance, including management of well control events when required.
  • Drive continuous improvement through operational reviews, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
Required Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of oil and gas drilling experience, including demonstrated experience supervising unconventional drilling operations.
  • Proven ability to lead and supervise diverse field teams while maintaining a strong safety, reliability, and operational performance culture.
  • Demonstrated commitment to procedural discipline, operational assurance, risk management, and compliance with Chevron standards, policies, and work processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership in the application of Stop Work Authority and intervention practices to prevent incidents and protect people, the environment, and assets.
  • Extensive Spanish language proficiency (speaking, reading, and writing) required to effectively communicate with field personnel, contractors, and service providers.
  • Current Well Control Certification or ability to obtain and maintain certification.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365® applications, including Word®, Excel®, PowerPoint®, Outlook®, and Microsoft Teams®.
  • Strong communication, leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting large-scale unconventional development and factory drilling operations.
