Chevron is offering a Field Specialist Apprentice program designed to build technical skills in oil and gas field operations. You will learn by doing, under supervision, on-site with production facilities, wells, water disposal, and related equipment.

The six-month program includes structured training, on-the-job learning, and interaction with Field Operations, Integrated Operations Center, and Maintenance teams to safely deliver production and minimize downtime.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Must have a valid Driver's License.
  • Ability and willingness to work day and night.

  • Apprentices will gain hands-on experience in field operations, including production facilities and wells.
  • Work with mentors and teams to learn operating, troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining oil and gas production processes.

Job description

Performs work for the functions/groups to which these students or recent graduates are assigned. (Note: Interns in this Job Category are paid for overtime where legally required. Contact HR-Total Rewards for guidance.) Supports clients/customers and assists with functional projects under regular supervision. Has a general knowledge of the work function Chevron’s Shale & Tight Business is accepting online applications for the position of Field Specialist Apprentice located in multiple locations , through August 17th, 2026, at 11:59 PM (Central Standard Time). The Field Specialist Apprenticeship is designed to build technical skills in the production operations discipline and gain hands-on experience in field operations. As part of the program, apprentices will work with a range of equipment and systems such as production facilities, production wells, water disposal and compressors, artificial lift systems (gas lift, ESP, rod pump and plunger ), VRUs, pumps and more, providing valuable exposure to real-world applications in the industry. Through a combination of structured training and immersive on-the-job learning, Apprentices are introduced to operating , troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining oil and gas production in partnership with Field Operations, Integrated Operations Center , and Maintenance and Reliability team member s . The position provides direct exposure to the Chevron Way Values and the strong safety culture that defines the Shale & Tight Business Unit. Apprentices will work closely with a dedicated mentor, complete two assign ments across different operational areas to develop a broad understanding of how teams an d functions work together to safely deliver production and minimize downtime and will also participate in computer-based and classroom training . This is a temporary 6 ‑ month field-based position .
