Job summary

Babcock & Wilcox is seeking a Sr. EHS&S Specialist to lead the development of EHS programs, training, and systems across our global sites. You will track, analyze, and report data to management to drive awareness and process improvements.

The role requires 8+ years in EHS, strong knowledge of ISO standards, and proven ability to manage large projects and data. You will partner with operations to ensure regulatory compliance and implement measurable safety initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Affairs or related field.
  • 8+ years of EHS experience with 5+ years in construction/manufacturing/industrial settings.
  • Experience leading large projects and documenting procedures; implementing safety programs.
  • Knowledge of ISO 45000, ISO 14001; NFPA/OSHA/EPA regulations.
  • Knowledge of current regulatory compliance trends and standards.
  • Strong data analysis skills and proficiency with EHS data management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to work independently.
  • Process-minded, systems thinker.

Responsibilities

Job description

The Sr. EHS&S Specialist is responsible for leading the development of EHS-related programs, training, and systems that support our global operating sites and divisions. This role will track, analyze, and report data to management to increase awareness/initiate process improvements.

  • Manage global EHS Data Management system and contractor EHS pre-qualification systems (internal and third-party customer mandated)
  • Develop and implement EHS programs based on industry best practices
  • Trend data to identify and recommend targeted improvement strategies that drive improved performance in both leading and lagging indicators
  • Develop and conduct EHS training programs on compliance, management systems, and leadership
  • Oversee the collection, development, communication, and distribution of lessons learned, alerts, and other EHS related educational material
  • Provide technical assistance to office and field operations to ensure compliance with applicable international, federal, state, and/or company environmental safety and health regulations
  • Responsible for leading and managing implementation of various projects
  • These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree Occupational Safety, Occupational Health, Environmental Affairs or related field, or equivalent experience in lieu of a degree
  • 8+ years’ experience in Environmental Health & Safety with at least 5+ years within a construction, manufacturing, or industrial setting
  • Demonstrated success managing large projects and initiatives, documenting procedures, and building and executing safety programs a plus
  • Knowledge of ISO standards, ISO 45000, ISO 14001; international, federal, state, and local EHS-related regulations/compliance requirements (NFPA/OSHA/EPA)
  • Maintains knowledge of current and emerging issues and trends in area of regulatory compliance
  • Strong computer skills, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and EHS data management software
  • Strong data analysis skills; proven ability to trend large amounts of data
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter, and motivator
  • Process minded, systems thinker
