Job summary

US Premier Tube Mills is seeking an EHS Specialist to drive safety, health, and environmental initiatives at our Indiana facility. The role focuses on regulatory compliance, training, audits, incident investigations, and waste management to promote a culture of safety.

You will support hazardous materials handling, SPCC plans, and emergency planning while partnering with operations to continuously improve environmental performance.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Engineering, or related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in safety, health, or environmental roles, preferably in manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and related regulations.
  • Familiarity with environmental management systems and waste disposal procedures.

  • Record Keeping & Reporting: maintain safety documents and prepare internal/external reports.

Overview

Position Summary

This role helps to maintain a safe and compliant workplace while driving continuous improvements in environmental sustainability and employee health and safety. The EHS Specialist is responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, standards, and company policies. This role involves implementing, maintaining, and improving the company’s EHS programs, conducting safety training, performing audits, investigating incidents, and promoting a culture of safety across the organization. The EHS Specialist will also oversee environmental waste management, ensure proper handling of hazardous materials, and support sustainable practices within the facility.

Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local regulations related to environmental health and safety (e.g., OSHA 1910, 1926 standards, RCRA, SPCC).
  • Safety Audits and Inspections: Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and walk-throughs of the facility. Identify hazards, recommend corrective actions, and ensure follow-up on the completion of action items.
  • Incident Investigations: Investigate workplace accidents, near-misses, and unsafe working conditions. Identify root causes and provide recommendations for corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Safety Training & Awareness: Develop, implement, and facilitate safety training programs, such as Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hazard communication, personal protective equipment (PPE), and fall protection.
  • Environmental Management: Assist inthe management ofhazardous waste disposal, including overseeing the collection, storage, and transportation of hazardous materials. Assist in compliance with the facility’s environmental permits, such as SPCC plans, and manage the proper disposal of chemicals and materials to minimize environmental impact.
  • Emergency Response Planning: Assist in developing, maintaining, and training employees on the company’s emergency response and contingency plans (e.g., RCRA contingency plan).
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement efforts related to safety processes, including the evaluation of equipment, procedures, and employee behavior.
  • Record Keeping & Reporting: Assist in maintaining documentation on safety incidents, inspections, training, hazardous waste management, and environmental compliance. Prepare reports for internal and external stakeholders as needed.
Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Associate’s degree in business, or Environmental Science, Occupational Health, Safety Engineering, or a related field
  • In lieu of formal education, relevant work experience in an EHS role can be considered
  • 3-5 years of experience in a safety, health, or environmental role, preferably within a manufacturing or industrial setting
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other safety regulations
  • Familiarity with environmental management systems and waste disposal procedures

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with experience in developing and delivering safety training programs
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to identify hazards, investigate incidents, and recommend improvements
  • Ability to collaborate with all levels of the organization to drive a culture of safety
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods, climb ladders, and navigate confined spaces
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required
