Job summary

HDR is seeking an Area Safety Manager to lead safety across multiple projects in the United States. You will develop and review site-specific safety plans, support project teams, and ensure compliance with OSHA and ANSI standards.

Travel within the assigned region is required. The role emphasizes training, incident investigation, risk mitigation, and promoting HDR's employee-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of technical experience or educational equivalent in occupational health/safety.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Knowledge of OSHA and ANSI regulatory standards.
• Ability to instruct and facilitate Safety, Health and Environmental training courses.
• Team-oriented with strong written and oral communication in support of SH&E requirements.
• Active participant in our employee-owned culture.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, review, and support implementation of site-specific safety plans aligned with HDR’s SH&E program.
• Assist project managers and field teams with Job Hazard Analysis development and review.
• Support pursuits by identifying, planning for, and mitigating SH&E risk.
• Educate and support local safety coordinators in meeting program requirements.
• Conduct SH&E auditing, inspections, and incident investigations in field and office settings.
• Deliver SH&E training, including permit-required confined spaces, lockout/tagout, fall protection, and first aid/CPR.
• Apply US Federal/state rules and industry consensus standards in practice.
• Participate on area leadership teams to support culture initiatives.
• Regularly report leading and lagging safety KPI metrics to area operations and business group management.
• Travel within the assigned geographic area to support projects, field teams, and office locations.
• Perform other duties as needed.
