Job summary

UW-Madison Division of Information Technology (DoIT) seeks an experienced IT Director I (Inst) for Network Services Field Services. The role directs strategic IT planning, oversees a 15-person team, and ensures service levels across campus networks connecting 60,000+ users.

The position supports a mix of on-site and remote work with an approved flexible work arrangement. Applicants must meet required qualifications and be prepared for state-wide travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Experience directing, leading and managing enterprise IT projects.
• Ability to supervise and develop teams including direct reports.
• Knowledge of network infrastructure technologies (routers, switches, fiber).
• Excellent communication across technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Directs strategic IT planning and aligns with institutional objectives.
• Develops operating policies and regulatory compliance.
• Supervises employees and manages performance, hires and rewards as needed.
• Manages budgets, service levels, KPIs and OKRs for IT services.
• Represents institutional interests to internal and external stakeholders.
• Leads project implementation at group, department and enterprise levels.
