For over 50 years, STRATA has provided our clients with geotechnical engineering, construction inspection, and material testing (CMT) services throughout the Intermountain West. We have a Field Services Manager position open in our new Salt Lake City (Sandy), Utah office. AtSTRATA, we are focused on the success of our employees and clients.
Currently, STRATA has offices in Boise, Post Falls, Idaho Falls, Twin Falls, and Pocatello, Idaho.

The Field Services Manager is responsible for managing, mentoring, and coaching technical staff who deliver the day-to-day technical execution of projects in a professional, fiscally responsible manner. The Field Services Manager sets the tone by leading by example and upholding operating standards to ensure the team’s quality, performance, and success. The position is performed in accordance with STRATA’s Mission/Vision, Core Values, brand, operational policies, and Quality Management System (QMS).
Internally, the Field Services Manager supervises field employees by communicating with them daily, scheduling the team on a project-by-project basis, and ensuring they have the training, tools, and resources to meet the needs of project managers and other offices. Coordinates with the lab to ensure samples are processed in conformance with project scope, schedule, and budget. Coordinates with the Business Manager and/or Project Manager to support the development of a proposal or response by providing technical input.
Externally, the Field Services Manager interfaces with clients and reviews and approves technically excellent deliverables from the field, resulting in repeat work.
Develops, coordinates (and at times leads) training for certifications (e.g., WAQTC, ACI) and professional development (e.g., project documentation, report writing, etc.). Maintains an accurate and current matrix of employee certifications and respective expirations. Maintains employees' training records in accordance with the Quality Management System.
Knows of and understands STRATA's Health and Safety Plan, safety policies. Ensures the issuance, consistent use of, and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for field employees.
May perform field testing, inspections, laboratory testing, and project management as needed, while ensuring appropriate utilization of the team.
Participates in business development and marketing activities to track upcoming projects, provide input on proposals, and/or fee estimates.
Serves as a resource for the field team regarding training, policies, structure, and operating procedures. Sets annual goals and conducts regular quarterly feedback with employees.
Ensures the condition of all STRATA vehicles is safe and lawful, including current documentation, registration, maintenance, and insurance are up to date. Performs periodic inspections of vehicles.
Assures the maintenance, care, and calibration of all equipment used in performing field services (e.g., concrete field-testing equipment, UT scope, nuclear densometers, etc.) and that they are appropriately serviced, maintained, inspected, and calibrated.
Daily, sets an example for others and demonstrates the Core Values of safety, integrity, respect, professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.
