Job summary

STRATA, Inc. is seeking a Field Professional to perform field testing and observations of soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt in accordance with project specifications. This on-site role supports project success through accurate testing, timely reporting, and clear communication with supervisors and clients.

The ideal candidate has 1+ year of testing experience or will be trained; certifications in WAQTC, ACI, or APNGA are welcomed. Travel, overtime, and weekend work are required as needed.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of construction materials testing experience preferred, training provided.
• Perform testing in accordance with project specs and standards.
• Maintain and calibrate field and lab equipment as needed.

Responsibilities

Field Professional - Construction Materials Testing

STRATA provides professional geotechnical engineering consulting, construction inspection, and materials testing services across the region. We’re committed to safety, integrity, teamwork, and respect—and we’re looking for team members who share those values. Our team of professionals work closely with contractors, architects, and engineers to support quality and compliance across a wide range of projects. We are currently seeking a Field Professional to join our team in Salt Lake, Utah.

About the Role

A field professional performs field testing and observations of construction materials in accordance with applicable procedures and standards. This role supports project success through accurate testing, timely reporting, and strong communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform observation and materials testing of soil, aggregate, concrete, and asphalt
• Conduct testing in accordance with project specifications and industry standards
• Assist senior professionals with complex tasks
• Maintain and calibrate field and laboratory equipment
• Report results promptly and accurately
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, clients, and team members
• Operate company vehicles responsibly and maintain their condition
• Travel out of town and work overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed

While our ideal candidates will have over one year of construction materials testing experience and two or more of the following certifications, we are willing to train motivated individuals with no testing experience who are eager to learn, grow, and develop a career in the industry.

• Soil and asphalt in-place density training (such as APNGA certifications);
• Concrete testing ((ACI and WAQTC certifications);
• Sampling and testing SRDTT, aggregate, embankment, and asphalt (WAQTC certifications).
