PROOF. is seeking a Field Services Engineer to support VFD, Crane or Port Solutions across the United States. The role combines field assignments with remote support, requiring 50–75% travel and a willingness to work on-site at client locations.

Candidates should hold a BS in electrical or mechanical engineering, have PLC programming experience, and be US citizens with a valid US passport. Travel nationally and internationally as needed; strong communication and safety practices expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of science in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field or equivalent via education and/or work experience.
  • 1 year of field engineering experience in power conversion (AC Motors, VFDs, or Drives).
  • Experience with PLC Programming.
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other contacts.
  • Availability to travel domestically and internationally between 50-75%, US Passport required.

Responsibilities

  • Advise clients and engineers to resolve on-site issues for VFD, Crane or Port Solutions.
  • Provide technical support to clients and other engineers.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on client equipment.
  • Analyze equipment failures using remote diagnostics and perform on-site repairs as needed.
  • Update CRM with case information and draft service reports.
  • Train client personnel on system maintenance and operation.
  • Conduct commissioning, installations, quality inspections, and performance testing.

Job description

Field Services Engineer - VFD, Crane or Port Solutions
Location: 50% or 25% Remote + 50% or 75% Travel (Depending on the role)
Requires: Bachelors Degree + US Citizenship + US Passport

There are several roles for this company, we will discuss your expectations for a role and match you with the relevant position.

Role Accountabilities
  • Advise clients and Company engineers to resolve on-site issues, as the factory expert for the Company’s VFD, Crane or Port Solution products
  • Provide technical support to clients and other engineers, when not in the field
  • Perform preventative maintenance on client equipment
  • Analyze client equipment failures using remote diagnostics tools, performing diagnostic and repair services at client site when necessary
  • Report to the factory any errors of deficiencies in hardware, software or system design discovered from consultation with clients and Company engineers. Implement corrective actions outlined in Field Change Notices as assigned
  • Troubleshoot, isolate issue, repair and/or replace defective components
  • Update client relationship management (CRM) tool with appropriate case information to ensure timely and accurate reports
  • Draft Service Advices and issue to clients and field engineers, as approved
  • Write and submit field service reports to clients to document work performed in the field
  • Acquire and maintain current safety qualifications appropriate to the assigned tasks and comply with Company and client safety requirements and good safety practices
  • Configure equipment to enable suppliers to resolve their product failures in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Respond to client issues including after regular business hours on a schedule to be assigned
  • Investigate suggested field changes, report problems, and recommend solutions to parent company as necessary
  • Train client personnel on system maintenance procedures and/or system operation
  • Identify and recommend additional value-add products and services through proactive engagement with clients
  • Perform commissioning, installations, quality inspections, and performance testing of VFD’s, Cranes or Port Solutions to meet design performance criteria, as assigned General Employee

Requirements Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor of science in electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field or equivalent via education and/or work experience
  • 1 year of field engineering experience in power conversion (AC Motors, VFD's, or Drives) experience, with familiarity with power distribution, power electronic, and rotating machine products
  • Experience with PLC Programming
  • Demonstrated successful working relationships with clients, suppliers, and other internal and external contacts
  • Demonstrated successful and positive personal leadership, interpersonal, organizational, administrative, and communication skills
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement in areas of responsibility
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
  • Availability to travel, domestically and internationally, between 50-75%, occasionally with limited notice
  • US Passport required
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated field engineering experience in metals rolling, container crane systems, and/or paper industries
  • Legacy A/C and DC VFD engineering experience to include AC/DC2000, AV/DC300, Innovation Series, T250
  • Controls engineering experience in LAN Topology for ISBUS, Profibus, Modbus, EGD, DeviceNet, TC-net, MELPAC, and TOSLINE protocol - Demonstrated experience working with PLCs manufactured by Toshiba, GE, Rockwell, and Mitsubishi Electric
  • Demonstrated ability to install, inspect, and maintain equipment in accordance with relevant operating/installation instructions
  • Fluency in Spanish or Mandarin, written and verbal, in addition to English, for international client communications
