Job summary

OpConnect in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Field Service Technician to troubleshoot, repair and maintain EV charging stations. The role requires hands-on electrical/EM fieldwork and independent problem-solving, with up to 75% travel across Oregon and Washington.

Zero Hiring is partnering with OpConnect, an established EV charging solutions provider, to hire a motivated Field Service Technician based in Portland, Oregon.

If you enjoy hands-on troubleshooting, working independently, and solving technical challenges, this is an opportunity to develop specialized skills in the growing EV charging industry.

What You’ll Do

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain EV charging stations.
• Perform preventive maintenance and equipment inspections.
• Identify electrical, mechanical, and connectivity issues using diagnostic tools.
• Assist with charger installation, commissioning, and software configuration.
• Travel to customer sites throughout Oregon and Washington.
• Document repairs and communicate service updates to customers and the technical support team.

What We’re Looking For

• Hands-on experience in electrical, electromechanical, equipment maintenance, or field service work.
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and diagnostic tools such as multimeters.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
• Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 75%, including occasional overnight trips.
• Good communication and customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• EV charging (EVSE) installation, troubleshooting, or maintenance experience.
• Electrical certifications, apprenticeships, or relevant technical training.
• Experience with Wi-Fi, cellular connectivity, or network troubleshooting.

No direct EV charging experience?
