Job description

Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)

Department: Field Service

Site: Walmart - Grove City, OH

Position Summary

The Field Service Technician will support our fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks, performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. Responsibilities include installation, servicing, reporting breakdown events, parts ordering, and maintenance at a specific location. This role involves significant interaction with customer personnel and lift truck operators, requiring excellent technical, communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.

Core Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain and service fuel cells at customer sites.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and evaluate to maintain fleet performance.
  • Perform specialized services such as field retrofits and software/hardware upgrades.
  • Provide on-call and emergency support as needed.
  • Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for support tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain high-pressure hydrogen storage, electrical systems, and fueling systems as required.
  • Communicate with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding fuel cell support.
  • Provide feedback to regional service teams on fuel cell performance and maintenance issues.
  • Complete administrative duties including incident reports, service logs, and inventory documentation.
  • Enforce safety procedures in the field and at customer sites.
  • Travel as needed, driving safely and adhering to traffic laws.
  • Represent Plug Power professionally at all times.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with technical electrical coursework preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting; formal training may be considered.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Knowledge of lift truck operation is preferred.
  • Mechanical aptitude and familiarity with computer systems (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and prioritize tasks.
  • Reliable and punctual.
  • Tools: Must provide own standard tools; specific fuel cell tools provided by Plug Power.

Pay Rate: $24.00 - $28.00 per hour
