Position Summary

The Field Service Technician supports fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks by performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. Responsibilities include installation, servicing, reporting breakdowns, parts ordering, and maintenance at a specific location. The role involves significant interaction with customer personnel and lift truck operators, requiring excellent technical, communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain and service fuel cells at customer sites.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and evaluate to maintain fleet performance.
• Perform specialized service procedures, including retrofits and upgrades.
• Provide on-call and emergency support as needed.
• Purchase tools, equipment, and parts for support.
• Troubleshoot and maintain high-pressure hydrogen storage, electrical, and fueling systems.
• Coordinate with hydrogen suppliers and provide feedback on fuel cell performance.
• Complete administrative tasks, including incident reports and documentation.
• Enforce safety procedures in the field.
• Travel as required, adhering to traffic laws.
• Represent Plug Power professionally.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent, with technical electrical coursework preferred.
• At least 3 years of mechanical and electrical troubleshooting experience.
• Formal training may substitute experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Knowledge of lift trucks is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Creative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Own standard tools; specific fuel cell tools provided by Plug Power.

Pay Rate

$24.00 - $28.00 per hour, with a comprehensive benefits package including health insurance, 401(k), bonuses, paid time off, and more.
