The position involves troubleshooting and installing complex, customized packaging and processing equipment at customer facilities, and performing maintenance and repairs under tight schedules.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot or install complex, customized packaging and processing equipment at customer facilities; repair equipment to customer specifications quickly and efficiently, addressing high‑level challenges with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and robotic systems.
• Conduct training for customers on the safe operation of equipment, maintenance, and parts ordering; provide contact information for the service team for future service and parts needs; ensure customers are comfortable with operational and safety procedures.
• Complete service documentation of repairs made during the call and submit related trip expenses; reports must be complete, accurate and submitted within 24 hours of job completion. Weekly expense reports and timesheets are also completed in an accurate and timely manner. All expenses incurred are handled cost‑effectively.

Travel and Schedule

The position is traveling with overnight stays required most workdays. Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate internal and external customers’ schedules. Must be willing to work outside normal business hours, including some weekends as required, and able to travel with little notice as customer demands require.

The role will follow one of the following schedules as determined by management: 10 consecutive days on/4 consecutive days off, or Monday‑Friday with one working weekend per month required.

Requirements

• Strong electromechanical knowledge and complex problem‑solving skills to maintain, service, and repair large, high‑powered packaging and processing machinery.
• Significant mechanical aptitude; able to troubleshoot large‑scale, complex machinery mechanically, electrically, and operationally.
• Experience with pneumatic and machine shop skills.
• Excellent customer service orientation and ability to work independently in high‑stress environments while maintaining professionalism.
• Responsive and adaptable to changing or new situations.

Work Environment

Work is performed with a variety of industries; many customers focus on food processing and packaging. Equipment is often in refrigeration or freezing environments and can be messy. Employees are regularly exposed to high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, and potentially hazardous materials ranging from sterile medical devices to recently slaughtered animals.

Physical Demands

This position requires standing, walking, using hands to finger, handle, or feel items; reaching with hands and arms; stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling; speaking and hearing. It is also frequently necessary to lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
