Job summary

Oilgear is seeking a Field Technician Oil & Gas in Houston to perform field service, warranty service, and system startups for hydraulic equipment worldwide. You will diagnose malfunctions, repair equipment, and support upgrades while coordinating with engineering teams to improve quality and design.

Offshore and extensive travel are required. The role emphasizes hands-on troubleshooting, customer training, and staying current with hydraulic technologies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Fluid power technology background preferred.
• Minimum of 2 years mechanical and electrical experience.
• Experience with hydraulically operated machinery, troubleshooting, and system analysis.
• Blow Out Preventer (BOP) and POD experience.
• Offshore experience preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
• Valid passport or ability to obtain one.
• Ability to pass offshore safety classes.
• Solid understanding of hydraulic systems and schematics; ability to read electrical drawings.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites (domestic & international; ~75% travel).
• Diagnose and troubleshoot hydraulic and electrical systems; collaborate with internal teams.
• Operate diagnostics and generate service reports.
• Communicate with customers; explain products and repairs.
• Participate in or conduct customer training sessions.
• Stay current with new hydraulic technologies and industry trends.
• Gather feedback for improvements and share insights with engineers.
• Assist in shop work for repairs or maintenance as needed.
• Work in confined spaces and elevated areas, including rig derricks up to 200 feet.
• Offshore and onshore site travel, potential assignments up to 6 weeks.
