Job summary

FMH Conveyors is seeking a Field Service Technician in a Lifecycle Services role. You will travel to customer sites to perform installations, repairs, and preventive maintenance, while driving reliability improvements across OEM equipment.

The position requires hydraulic/mechanical and electrical problem solving, PLC and servo drive work, and strong communication with customers to ensure successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• AAS or BS in Mechatronics, EE, EET, EECS, or Industrial Electronics is desired.
• 3 years of experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic components and HMI.
• 3 years of field service experience—diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing electronics and machinery.
• AB CompactLogix PLC and RSLogix500/5000 programming experience with small PLC modifications.
• Ability to interpret complex mechanical/electrical schematics and networks.
• Experience configuring VFDs and servo motors.
• Valid driver's license and ability to obtain US passport.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field service calls for installation, commissioning, emergency repair, preventive maintenance, audits, retrofits, and training.
• Perform mechanical and electrical modifications including PLC programs and servo drive configuration.
• Lead site meetings with customer contacts to explain scope and completed work; train customer personnel for proper operation and maintenance.
• Aim for high service delivery metrics: fast response, first-time fix, and high customer satisfaction.
• Communicate with field service management and internal support to resolve issues efficiently.
• Provide reliability feedback to quality engineering and collaborate on improvements.
• Adhere to industry, company, and customer safety practices; maintain accurate paperwork and CRM entries.
• Periodically support Lifecycle Services headquarters with technical tasks.

FMH Conveyors is adding a Field Service Technician to their Lifecycle Services team, responsible for total equipment lifecycle management services that optimize the performance of OEM equipment.

Lifecycle Services Technicians travel to customer sites to perform planned services, troubleshoot issues, make repairs, recommend spare parts, and provide upgrades/modernization.

This is a full‑time, travel position (up to 80%).

What You’ll Be Doing

• Conduct field service calls at customer sites to provide installation, commissioning, emergency repair, preventive maintenance, audits, retrofits, and training services.
• Perform mechanical and electrical modifications including PLC programs and servo drive configuration.
• Conduct site visit meetings with customer contacts to explain job scope and work completed, and conduct training with customer personnel to ensure proper functioning and general maintenance of equipment.
• Achieve service delivery goals, including response time, first‑time fix, and customer satisfaction rates.
• Communicate effectively with field service management and internal service support to efficiently resolve customer issues.
• Provide equipment reliability feedback to quality engineering and collaborate on improvements.
• Comply with industry, company, and customer safe working practices.
• Ensure paperwork, timesheets, CRM entries, expenses, and other documentation are completed promptly, on time, and to a high quality.
• Periodically perform technical support, final assurance, or other duties at Lifecycle Services headquarters.

What We’re Looking For

• AAS or BS in Mechatronics, EE, EET, EECS, or Industrial Electronics is desired.
• 3 years of experience with solid knowledge and interaction of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic components, and HMI.
• 3 years of experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, emergency service, and repairing electronics and mechanical machine problems in the field.
• AB CompactLogix PLC and RSLogix500/5000 programming experience, including minor modifications to PLC programs, and accessing networks through PLC to troubleshoot issues, download and unload programs.
• Interpretation of complex technical information involving mechanics and electronics, including schematics.
• Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) parameter configuration and servo drives and motors configurations.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to qualify for a US passport.

Typical Physical Demands

The employee is regularly required to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day, grasp, handle, and feel objects, control and manage tools, and use hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, or crouch and to lift or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level is usually moderate but occasionally loud. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
