Job summary

FMH Conveyors, a Duravant family company, is seeking a Field Service Technician to join Lifecycle Services. You will install, commission, perform preventive maintenance, and train customers at sites.

The role requires up to 80% travel and involves mechanical/electrical systems, PLCs, and servo drives to ensure reliability and timely service while maintaining safety and documentation standards.

Qualifications

  • 3 years’ experience with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic components, and HMI.
  • 3 years’ experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, emergency service and repairing electronics in the field.
  • AB CompactLogix PLC and RSLogix500/5000 programming experience.
  • Interpret complex technical information involving mechanics and electronics, including schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct field service calls for installation, commissioning, emergency repair, preventive maintenance, audits, retrofits, and training.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical modifications including PLC programs and servo drive configuration.
  • Meet with customer contacts to explain scope and completed work; train customer personnel on operations and maintenance.
  • Achieve service delivery goals including response time and first-time fix accuracy.
  • Communicate with field service management and internal teams to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Provide equipment reliability feedback to quality engineering and aid in improvements.
  • Keep paperwork, timesheets, CRM entries, expenses accurate and timely.

FMH Conveyors is adding a Field Service Technician to their Lifecycle Services team, responsible for total equipment lifecycle management services that optimize the performance of OEM equipment. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for services that include installation, start-up/commissioning, preventive maintenance, emergency repairs, audits, and training.

Lifecycle Services Technicians travel to customer sites to perform planned services, troubleshoot issues, make repairs, recommend spare parts, and provide upgrades/modernization.

  • This is a full-time, travel position (up to 80%)
What You’ll Be Doing
  • Conduct field service calls at customer sites to provide installation, commissioning, emergency repair, preventive maintenance, audits, retrofits, and training services
  • Perform mechanical and electrical modifications including PLC programs and servo drive configuration
  • Conduct site visit meetings with customer contacts to include explanation of job scope and work completed and conduct training with customer’s personnel to ensure understanding of the sequence of operations, proper functionality, and general maintenance of equipment
  • Achieve service delivery goals including response time, first time fix, and customer satisfaction rates
  • Communicate effectively with field service management and internal service support team to efficiently resolve customer issues
  • Provide equipment reliability feedback to quality engineering and collaborate on improvements
  • Comply to industry, company, and customer safe working practices
  • Ensure paperwork, timesheets, CRM entries, expenses, and other paperwork functions are done promptly, on time and to a high quality.
  • Periodically perform technical support, final assurance, or other duties at Lifecycle Services headquarters
What We’re Looking For
  • AAS or BS in Mechatronics, EE, EET, EECS, or Industrial Electronics is desired.
  • 3 years’ experience with solid knowledge and interaction of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic components, and HMI
  • 3 years’ experience diagnosing, troubleshooting, emergency service and repairing electronics and mechanical machine problems in the field
  • AB CompactLogix PLC and RSLogix500/5000 programming experience including minor modifications to PLC programs, and accessing networks through PLC to troubleshoot issues, download and unload programs.
  • Interpret complex technical information involving mechanics and electronics, including schematics
  • Variable Frequency Drive (VFD) parameter configuration and Servo drives and motors configurations
  • Valid drivers’ license and ability to qualify for a US passport

Typical Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day. The employee is frequently required to grasp, handle, and feel objects, control and manage tools, and use hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel and crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but at times loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles.
