Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation seeks an experienced Field Service Technician to perform top-tier maintenance and repair on advanced aerospace and defense systems. The role involves leading a field service team, delivering training, and coordinating complex projects across international sites.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required, advanced degrees may substitute for experience.

• Ability to read and interpret moderately complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, or publications.
• Advanced troubleshooting techniques are essential.
• Advanced electrical wiring skills required.
• Willingness to travel outside the continental US for extended periods.
• Prior deployment to OCONUS locations is expected.
• Pre-deployment medical assessment must be passed.
• Willingness to work extended hours, holidays, and shift schedules as needed.
• Must have valid passport and ability to obtain visas for international travel.

• Lead, mentor, and provide technical guidance to the entire field service team.
• Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs for customers and internal teams.
• Maintain precise and detailed records of all field activities and equipment status.
• Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and industry regulations.
• Oversee and optimize inventory management for spare parts and tools.
• Produce and present detailed technical reports and insights to senior management.
• Travel extensively to customer locations, including international sites.

Qualifications You Must Have:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• 5+ years of experience as a technician or in a related field.
• Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• Ability to understand and interpret moderately complex technical schematics, diagrams, blueprints, manuals, and/or publications.
• Advanced understanding of troubleshooting techniques.
• Advanced electrical wiring skills.
• Ability to frequently travel outside the continental US, typically for extended periods of time.

• Ability to deploy for an extended amount of time to various OCONUS operating locations.
• Ability to meet current DoD and Combatant Command requirements for deployed locations.
• Successfully pass a pre-deployment medical assessment.
• Must be willing and able to work extended hours, holidays and shift schedules as required.
• Current/ valid passport and be able to obtain a visa to travel internationally.

• Willing to deploy OCONUS on an approximate 90/90 rotation.

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Associate's degree in a related field of study.
• Experience with FCC or FCC General Radio Operator License (GROL).
• Prior experience with Security+, Network+, Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), and/or A+.
• Basic understanding of Spectrometer, Oscilloscope, and/or Pilot Static equipment gauges.
• Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry, the US Department of Defense, or US Military.
• Experience in leading and managing technical teams or large-scale projects.
• Exceptional presentation and communication skills.

Essential Functions:

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly.
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods during the work shift.
• Hand and finger dexterity to work with small mechanical components and tools.
• Ability to work in a noisy environment with potential exposure to hazardous materials.
• Ability to travel frequently to customer locations, sometimes on short notice.

• Ability to hear and understand spoken communication in noisy environments, such as industrial sites or construction areas.
• Ability to detect auditory signals from machinery or equipment, which may indicate issues.
• Ability to navigate various work environments, including climbing ladders, crawling in confined spaces, and working at heights.
• Ability to drive or operate a vehicle for frequent travel to customer locations.
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all tasks, including repairs, installations, and maintenance.
• Ability to follow detailed instructions and adhere to safety protocols.
• Strong awareness of safety protocols and ability to adhere to safety guidelines in potentially hazardous environments.
