Job summary

GEA Group is seeking a Field Service Technician III for the Central Region to perform routine maintenance, warranty work, and minor repairs on industrial equipment with minimal supervision. You will respond to field dispatches, meet customers on-site, and provide advanced troubleshooting for compressor packages and control systems.

The role requires 7–10 years of experience in industrial refrigeration, reading P&IDs and schematics, and the ability to travel up to 90%.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical school certification in refrigeration or similar field; preferred.
  • RETA CIRO Certification; preferred.
  • 7-10 years of industrial refrigeration experience required.
  • Capable of reading P&IDs and electrical schematics.
  • Thorough knowledge of the refrigeration cycle.
  • Knowledge of ANSI/IIAR-6 2019; certification required or obtainable within 1 year.
  • EPA 608 universal certification; preferred.
  • Ability to travel 90% of the time.

  • Inspect machinery to confirm proper working order.
  • Provide preventative measures and discuss work with customer.
  • Submit time sheets, expense reports, and service tickets timely.
  • Provide after-hours telephone troubleshooting support.
  • Train customers on operation of equipment.

GEA Group is searching for a Field Service Technician III to join our Central Region Service Team!

Field Service Technician III – Central Region Service Team

The Field Service Technician III performs routine maintenance, warranty work, and minor repairs to a variety of industrial equipment products and packages without supervision.

Responsibilities
  • Responds to customer requests and field dispatches.
  • Meets with customer at site to go over the nature of the service or repair.
  • Provide advanced technical support and performs advanced troubleshooting to the compressor package.
  • Provide advanced technical support and performs advanced troubleshooting on electrical & control systems.
  • Provide advanced technical support and performs advanced troubleshooting of refrigeration system.
  • Performs retrofitting of industrial control panels across multiple manufacturers.
  • Completes the routine maintenance or repair, in accordance with ANSI/IIAR-6 2019, as applicable.
  • Inspects machinery to confirm proper working order.
  • Provides preventative measure suggestions.
  • Discusses work completed with customer.
  • Submits all time sheets, expense reports (within 30 days), service tickets, start-up reports, inspection reports, and other required paperwork within the required timeframe.
  • Perform after-hours telephone troubleshooting support.
  • Proficiently train customers on the operation of the equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Your Profile / Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Technical school certification in refrigeration or similar field; preferred
  • RETA CIRO Certification; preferred
  • 7-10 years of industrial refrigeration experience required
  • Capable of reading P&IDs and electrical schematics.
  • Thorough knowledge of the refrigeration cycle.
  • Knowledge of the major components pertaining to a refrigeration system.
  • Advanced knowledge of screw and piston type compressors and their packages.
  • Advanced working knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and control schemes.
  • Advanced working knowledge of industrial control panels.
  • Advanced working knowledge of refrigeration systems and all peripherals, including components outside of the GEA scope.
  • Knowledge of ANSI/IIAR-6 2019 and capable of adhering to its standards.
  • ANSI / IIAR-6 certification required or must be able to obtain certification within 1 year.
  • EPA 608 universal certification; preferred.
  • Ability to travel 90% of the time.

The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $47.43 - 53.20 per hour.

GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States. The pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons.
