Job summary

GEA Group is seeking a Field Service Technician Team Lead for our Midwest Team, preferably near Houston or Oklahoma area. You will lead a field service team, provide advanced troubleshooting for industrial refrigeration systems, and train junior technicians while ensuring safety and compliance.

The role requires a minimum of 10 years in industrial refrigeration, ANSI IIAR-6 certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months), and willingness to travel up to 90% to sites across the U.S.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical refrigeration certification preferred.
  • ANSI/IIAR-6 certification required or must obtain within 1 year.
  • RETA CIRO certification preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial refrigeration.
  • Capable of reading P&IDs and electrical schematics.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Knowledge of major refrigeration system components.
  • Advanced knowledge of screw and piston compressors and their packages.
  • Advanced knowledge of electrical systems, wiring, and control schemes.
  • Ability to travel 90% of the time.

  • Meets with customers at site to discuss service or repairs.
  • Performs advanced troubleshooting on compressors, electrical & control systems, and refrigeration systems.
  • Performs retrofitting of industrial control panels across multiple manufacturers.
  • Completes routine maintenance or repairs per ANSI/IIAR-6 2019 as applicable.
  • Inspects machinery and suggests preventative measures.
  • Discusses work completed with customers and submits required paperwork on time.

GEA Group is searching for an experienced Field Service Technician Team Lead to join our Midwest Team! The ideal candidate would reside around the Houston or Oklahoma area.

  • Discovers training needs and provides coaching.
  • Actively listens to team members’ feedback and resolve any issues/conflicts, at times with branch manager’s support.
  • Performs field service duties at times as a specialist and capable of performing all field service technician III tasks, in addition to:
  • Provide troubleshooting support to improve machinery operation with respect to plant/refinery operation.
  • Proficiently train customers on the operation of the equipment.
  • Act as a mentor to junior technicians by providing them on the job training, assuring work is completed correctly, and provide the branch manager feedback on performance and suggestions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Responds to customer requests and field dispatches.
  • Meets with customer at site to go over the nature of the service or repair.
  • Provide advanced technical support and performs advanced troubleshooting to the compressor package.
  • Provide advanced technical support and performs advanced troubleshooting on electrical & control systems.
  • Provide advanced technical support and performs advanced troubleshooting of refrigeration system.
  • Performs retrofitting of industrial control panels across multiple manufacturers.
  • Completes the routine maintenance or repair, in accordance with ANSI/IIAR-6 2019, as applicable.
  • Inspects machinery to confirm proper working order.
  • Provides preventative measure suggestions.
  • Discusses work completed with customer.
  • Submits all time sheets, expense reports (within 30 days), service tickets, start-up reports, inspection reports, and other required paperwork within the required timeframe.
  • Perform after-hours telephone troubleshooting support.
  • Proficiently train customers on the operation of the equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED required
  • Technical school certification in refrigeration or similar field is preferred
  • ANSI / IIAR-6 certification required or must be able to obtain certification within 1 year.
  • RETA CIRO Certification is preferred
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in industrial refrigeration
  • Capable of reading P&IDs and electrical schematics.

The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $56.00 - $67.00 per hour. GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States.

The pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. You may be eligible for additional rewards, such as discretionary bonus (based on eligibility) and/or equity awards.
