Job summary

GEA Group in the United States is seeking an experienced Field Service Technician to install, commission, maintain, and repair powder handling and process equipment across customer sites.

You will diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues, perform planned and emergency maintenance, and deliver superior customer service while collaborating with service, sales, and project teams. Travel up to 75% in the US & Canada is required.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years field service with powder handling or process equipment.
  • Strong mechanical troubleshooting ability.
  • Familiar with GMP, FDA, 3A regulatory standards.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel up to 75%.

Responsibilities

  • Install, commission and maintain powder handling equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues—onsite and remotely.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service in the field.
  • Coordinate with service, sales, and project teams.
  • Prepare detailed service reports and start-up documentation.
  • Provide operator training and site visits.

What You’ll Do
Install, Commission & Maintain Equipment
  • Support installation, commissioning, and decommissioning of powder filling and process equipment
  • Perform both planned and emergency maintenance on installed systems
Troubleshoot & Repair
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical issues—both onsite and remotely
  • Ensure minimal downtime and maximum equipment performance
Deliver Exceptional Customer Service
  • Serve as the face of the company in the field
  • Build strong, lasting relationships through clear communication and professionalism
Drive Continuous Improvement
  • Identify service opportunities, recommend upgrades, and suggest spare parts
  • Support optimization of customer systems and processes
Documentation & Coordination
  • Prepare detailed service reports, inspection summaries, and start-up documentation
  • Collaborate with internal teams across service, sales, and project management
Customer Training & Support
  • Provide operator training on equipment use and preventive maintenance
  • Conduct site visits and performance audits
Safety First
  • Adhere to all safety policies, OSHA standards, and customer HSE requirements
Your Profile / Qualifications
What You Bring
Experience & Technical Skills
  • 5+ years of field service experience with powder handling, filling, or process equipment
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on troubleshooting experience
  • Solid knowledge of:
    • Pneumatics and electrical systems
    • P&IDs, instrumentation, and production diagrams
    • Powder transport, packaging, and palletizing systems
Industry Knowledge
  • Familiarity with GMP, FDA, 3A, and related regulatory standards
Professional Skills
  • Excellent communication and customer-facing skills
  • Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proactive mindset with a strong work ethic
Requirements
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% (primarily U.S. & Canada, with some international travel)

The typical base pay range for this position at the start of employment is expected to be between $31 - $45 per hour. GEA Group has different base pay ranges for different work locations within the United States.

The pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. The estimated range is the budgeted amount for the position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications, and other job-related reasons. You may be eligible for additional rewards, such as discretionary bonus (based on eligibility) and/or equity awards.
