Role Summary

The Field Service Technician III will be responsible for overdelivering on the internal and external customer experience at our service locations. The ideal candidate will possess the technical acumen and the ability to provide a strong level of customer service. If you're able to think quickly on your feet, have a go-getter attitude, possess great communication skills, and have a passion for adventure, then we want you on the team. You will be working with our internal partners every day to assist with service needs and coordinate with our Service, Vehicle and Delivery Operations, and Field Service Engineer teams. This role requires a dynamic and resourceful leader with excellent communication skills, fostering cross-functional interaction and championing continuous improvement to support Service teams and customers. Success in this role requires a customer-first approach, adaptability in ambiguous environments, and a creative, flexible mindset. Experience in automotive, process standardization, continuous improvement, and managing escalations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Follow Rivian repair procedures efficiently without compromising quality and safety.
• Perform or assist with diagnosis, repairs, installations, and inspections on vehicles.
• Support vehicle repairs outside of a service center setting.
• Conduct road tests to ensure repair quality.
• Manage parts operations including ordering, receiving, shipping, and inventory.
• Stay updated with technical skills and training.
• Support campaigns and containment initiatives.
• Maintain accurate expense reports.
• Work with high quality and efficiency with minimal supervision.
• Collaborate effectively in a dynamic environment.
• Provide service support to the field and support the Service organization.
• Communicate professionally in a customer-facing environment.
• Document repairs accurately.
• This role may transition from remote to on-site at a nearby service center within 90 miles or 2 hours.
• Travel to support locations as needed until local Service Centers open, including production plants.
• Operate remotely until the local service center opens, if applicable.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or GED preferred.
• Graduation from an accredited automotive repair school preferred.
• 5+ years’ experience in automotive repair preferred.
• Proficient with hand and power tools.
• Proficient in using a laptop or computer (Windows or Mac).
• Knowledge of diagnosis and workflows.
• Ability to read electrical schematics.
• Limited diagnostic experience.
• Understanding of high and low voltage electricity basics.
• Ability to perform tire repair and vehicle alignment.
• Hybrid repair experience is a plus.
• Ability to diagnose and explain vehicle electronic communications like CAN Bus.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Some travel may be required.

Pay Disclosure

Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $36.18 - 41.41 per hour. Actual pay depends on experience, location, and other factors.
