Role Overview

The Field Service Technician I is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service, performing preventative maintenance, routine repairs, and calibration/verification of Hach devices at customer sites. The customer base includes municipal (e.g., drinking and wastewater treatment) and industrial (e.g., power plants, food, and beverage) facilities.

This position is part of the North America Field Service Team based in Sacramento, CA (or within 25 miles) and will be remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance, routine repairs, and calibration/verification of instrumentation using standard procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service and serve as on-site technical contact.
• Submit accurate service reports affecting billing, inventory, and instrument records.
• Follow safety policies and procedures.
• Support administrative tasks related to service visits.
• Travel 60-75% within a 2-hour radius around Southern California, with up to 8 nights away per month, including company-paid accommodations and meals.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent required; an Associate or Technical degree is preferred, or equivalent experience.
• Basic mechanical aptitude required; experience with preventative maintenance and diagnostics is a plus but not mandatory.
• 1+ years of field service or customer-facing experience preferred.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record required.

Compensation & Benefits

The hourly wage ranges from $30.00 to $32.00 USD, plus incentive pay. Benefits include paid time off, health insurance, and 401(k). Compensation may vary based on experience and other factors.
