Job summary

ARIZONA WATER COMPANY in Casa Grande, AZ is seeking a Meter Reader I to read meters, record data, and maintain accurate customer and route information. You will interact with the public and company staff while ensuring timely, accurate meter readings and reports.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, a valid Arizona driver’s license, and ADEQ Grade 1 Water Distribution Operator certification before advancing.

Qualifications

  • High school graduate with vocational training in pipefitting or electrician.
  • Must have a valid Arizona driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must have a valid Arizona Department of Environmental Quality Grade 1 Water Distribution Operator Certificate before FST I can advance out of the second wage step.

Responsibilities

  • Read meters regularly according to schedule.
  • Record readings for all meters on a handheld meter reading device or read sheets.
  • Refer customer questions to local office when needed.
  • Note unusual conditions with codes on the meter reading device.
  • Prepare written reports after downloading readings or report immediately if warranted.
  • Track dwelling types and unit counts for the Arizona Department of Water Resources.
  • Change all types and sizes of meters.
  • Meter Readers may be assigned to other duties.
