Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking an experienced Meter Reader in Casa Grande, AZ to perform regular meter readings and data collection. The role requires clear communication with customers and internal teams, accurate reporting, and adherence to safety and field procedures.

The successful candidate will read meters, record readings with handheld devices, escalate issues as needed, and assist with maintaining accurate dwelling counts for regulatory reporting. Local travel and outdoor work are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; vocational training in pipefitting or electrician preferred.
• Valid Arizona driver's license with clean driving record.
• Must hold (or obtain) Arizona Grade 1 Water Distribution Operator Certification before advancing.
• Meter readers may be assigned to other duties as needed.

Responsibilities

• Read meters regularly according to schedule.
• Record readings for all meters on the handheld device or read sheets.
• Refer questions to local office when unreadable.
• Note unusual conditions with appropriate codes on the handheld device.
• Prepare written reports after downloads or report immediately when needed.
• Track dwelling types and unit counts for the Arizona Department of Water Resources.
• Change all types and sizes of meters.
• Meter readers may be assigned to other duties.
