Job summary

Hitachi Energy in the United States seeks a Senior Field Service Engineer to lead transformer installation and maintenance projects on site, traveling up to 85% across the territory. You will guide technical crews, perform electrical testing, and serve as the primary customer liaison during critical operations.

You will mentor technicians, collaborate with engineering, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance. A strong background in transformer services with leadership experience is required.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical diploma with 10+ years transformer service experience, or high school diploma with 12+ years transformer service experience.
• 3+ years of supervising transformer service teams.
• Comprehensive knowledge of transformer field service operations and electrical testing procedures.
• Expertise in transformer installation, vacuum/oil processing, and internal component assembly.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel up to 85%.
• Strong technical problem-solving abilities and leadership in field environments.
• Work authorization to work in the United States for Hitachi Energy.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical crews of 2-8+ specialists through complex transformer installation and maintenance projects.
• Execute comprehensive electrical testing including power factor analysis, winding resistance, and SFRA diagnostics.
• Serve as primary customer liaison and technical advisor during critical field operations.
• Optimize project workflows by strategically assigning tasks based on team strengths and site conditions.
• Manage high-voltage equipment ranging from distribution transformers to transmission-level apparatus.
• Conduct preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on mission-critical power infrastructure.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and implement innovative solutions.
• Mentor junior technicians while promoting continuous safety excellence across all operations.
• Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.

Your Background

• Associate degree/ two-year technical diploma and a minimum of 10 years of transformer service experience; OR, High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 12 years of transformer service experience. 3 or more years experience supervising transformer service teams.
• Comprehensive knowledge of transformer field service operations and electrical testing procedures
• Expertise in transformer installation, vacuum/oil processing, and internal component assembly
• Valid driver's license with flexibility to travel up to 85% throughout assigned territory
• Strong technical problem-solving abilities and leadership experience in field environments
• Proven track record working safely around high-voltage electrical equipment
• Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States
