Job summary

Hitachi Energy is seeking a senior field service professional to lead transformer installation and maintenance projects across diverse environments. You will supervise technical crews, perform electrical tests (including SFRA diagnostics), and act as the primary customer liaison to ensure reliable power infrastructure and strong client relationships.

With up to 85% travel, you will collaborate with engineering teams to solve complex challenges, mentor technicians, and uphold safety and quality

Qualifications

  • Associate degree or two-year technical diploma with transformer service experience or a high school diploma with 12+ years in transformer service.
  • Extensive knowledge of transformer field service operations and electrical testing procedures.
  • Experience supervising transformer service teams (3+ years).
  • Valid driver's license with willingness to travel up to 85%.

Responsibilities

  • Lead technical crews of 2-8+ specialists through transformer installation and maintenance projects.
  • Execute electrical testing including power factor, winding resistance, and SFRA diagnostics.
  • Serve as primary customer liaison and technical advisor during field operations.
  • Optimize project workflows by assigning tasks based on team strengths and site conditions.
  • Ensure compliance with external and internal regulations and guidelines.
  • Mentor junior technicians and promote safety excellence on all operations.

This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus contingent upon successful completion of hiring process, completion of onboarding requirements, and execution of sign-on bonus agreement with terms and conditions.

How You'll Make an Impact
  • Lead technical crews of 2-8+ specialists through complex transformer installation and maintenance projects.
  • Execute comprehensive electrical testing including power factor analysis, winding resistance, and SFRA diagnostics.
  • Serve as primary customer liaison and technical advisor during critical field operations.
  • Optimize project workflows by strategically assigning tasks based on team strengths and site conditions.
  • Manage high-voltage equipment ranging from distribution transformers to transmission-level apparatus.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance and emergency repairs on mission-critical power infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and implement innovative solutions.
  • Mentor junior technicians while promoting continuous safety excellence across all operations.
  • Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your Background
  • Associate degree/ two-year technical diploma and a minimum of 10 years of transformer service experience; OR, High School Diploma/GED and a minimum of 12 years of transformer service experience. 3 or more years experience supervising transformer service teams.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of transformer field service operations and electrical testing procedures.
  • Expertise in transformer installation, vacuum/oil processing, and internal component assembly.
  • Valid driver's license with flexibility to travel up to 85% throughout assigned territory.
  • Strong technical problem-solving abilities and leadership experience in field environments.
  • Proven track record working safely around high-voltage electrical equipment.
  • Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in the United States.
