Holt CAT is the largest Caterpillar dealership of heavy equipment in the United States. We have a full-time, Field Service Technician position available at our Laredo, Texas location. The hours are Monday-Friday 7 AM to 4 PM, with some Saturdays required. Daily travel within a 150-mile radius of Laredo, Texas, is expected.

This position involves performing high-quality field service repairs on heavy equipment, responding to customer needs positively and promptly, and ensuring maximum value for work performed.

Essential Functions:

  • Adhere to all safety policies and company standards at all times.
  • Perform complex offsite repairs with minimal supervision.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions and failures.
  • Remove, install, disassemble, and assemble parts according to CAT specifications.
  • Test, adjust, and verify the proper operation of repairs.
  • Complete all job-related documentation, including service reports and parts orders, maintaining clear customer records and database access as needed.
  • Operate equipment and vehicles legally and safely.
  • Maintain service vehicle records, inspections, and driver logs as per Department of Transportation requirements.
  • Follow contamination control and HAZMAT regulations.
  • Keep company tools, equipment, and vehicles in good condition.
  • Communicate progress to supervisors and customers.
  • Complete tasks within flat rate time and re-work standards.
  • Work overtime as needed.
  • Complete Technician Training Path courses and safety training promptly.
  • Maintain professionalism and act as a mentor to lower-level technicians if applicable.
  • Attend punctually and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair complex issues in the field, such as hydraulic, engine, transmission, HVAC, and electrical problems.
  • At least 3 years of experience in troubleshooting and repairing heavy equipment (e.g., dozers, backhoes, loaders, excavators).
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Own tools required for the job.
  • High energy, efficiency, and effectiveness in work.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Valid driver's license; CDL Class B required or to be obtained within 90 days of employment.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is highly preferred.
