Job summary

Otovo is seeking a skilled Field Service Technician to service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair solar energy systems, battery storage, and generators in Peoria, IL. This hands-on electrical role emphasizes problem-solving and delivering excellent customer service to support clean energy adoption.

Responsibilities include diagnosing equipment, performing PM, upgrading systems, and documenting work. Must lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and travel locally with occasional OT.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of electrical experience.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• State-required electrical certification or license (Journeyman, Wireman, or equivalent).
• Ability to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
• Experience using electrical diagnostic equipment.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel locally and work overtime as needed.

• Perform preventive maintenance including panel cleaning, wiring inspections, inverter testing, and battery health assessments.
• Commission new systems and upgrades while ensuring compliance with NEC, AHJ, and utility requirements.
• Utilize diagnostic tools such as multimeters, clamp meters, and thermal imaging equipment.
• Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and photo documentation.
• Follow safety procedures including PPE usage, lockout/tagout processes, and fall protection requirements.
• Respond to emergency service calls and warranty-related repairs as needed.
• Communicate effectively with homeowners and customers regarding system status and repair recommendations.
• Represent Otovo professionally at customer sites.

In this role, you'll service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair residential and commercial solar energy systems, battery storage solutions, and generators. This position is ideal for an experienced electrical professional who enjoys hands-on technical work, solving complex problems, and delivering exceptional customer service while supporting the transition to clean energy.
