Position Summary

The Field Service Technician will support our fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks, including performing preventative maintenance and resolving breakdowns. Responsibilities include installation, servicing, reporting breakdown events, parts ordering, and maintenance at a specific location. The role involves significant interaction with customer personnel and electric lift truck operators, requiring excellent technical, communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

• Maintain and service fuel cells at customer sites.
• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet.
• Execute specialized service procedures, including retrofits and upgrades.
• Provide on-call and emergency support to customers.
• Purchase tools, equipment, and parts as needed.
• Troubleshoot and maintain high-pressure hydrogen storage, electrical systems, and fueling systems.
• Coordinate with hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support.
• Provide feedback to regional service teams on fuel cell performance.
• Complete administrative tasks such as incident reports, service logs, and documentation.
• Enforce safety procedures in the field and at customer sites.
• Travel as required, driving safely and adhering to traffic laws.
• Represent Plug Power professionally at all times.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent, with technical electrical coursework preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting.
• Formal training may substitute for experience.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean record.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly.
• Knowledge of lift truck operation is preferred.
• Mechanical aptitude and computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook).
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and reliably.
• Own standard tools; specific fuel cell tools provided by Plug Power.
