Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a Field Service Technician to support customer communications systems in St. Paul, Minnesota.

This is a full-time, onsite role focused on ensuring the reliability and uptime of mission-critical two-way radio and RF systems across public safety, government, healthcare, utilities, transportation, and manufacturing. You will diagnose, repair, install, configure, and test radio equipment, create codeplugs, document findings, and travel to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 3+ years hands-on experience with two-way radio and RF equipment.
• Experience diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing RF systems.
• Strong troubleshooting of radios, antennas, repeaters, power supplies, and RF infrastructure.
• Experience creating/modifying radio codeplugs with 12+ channels, trunking, and multiple zones.
• Knowledge of RF fundamentals and radio frequency principles.
• Experience using radio programming software and diagnostic tools.
• Ability to travel to customer sites with valid driver's license.
• Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.

Zachary Piper Solutions is currently seeking a Field Service Technician to support customer communications systems based in St. Paul, Minnesota. This position is a full-time role that will be onsite. As a Field Service Technician, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability, performance, and uptime of mission-critical two-way radio and RF communication systems across a variety of industries, including public safety, government, healthcare, utilities, transportation, and manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities:

• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair two-way radio and RF communication systems.
• Perform maintenance and service on radios, repeaters, antennas, power supplies, and related RF infrastructure.
• Install, configure, test, and program radio communication equipment.
• Create, modify, and maintain radio codeplugs, including systems with 12+ channels, multiple zones, and trunked radio configurations.
• Conduct system performance testing and identify RF-related issues impacting communications reliability.
• Perform field service, preventative maintenance, and corrective repairs at customer locations.
• Program and configure mobile, portable, and base station radio equipment.
• Utilize RF fundamentals and diagnostic tools to resolve technical issues and optimize system performance.
• Document service activities, repairs, and technical findings accurately.
• Communicate effectively with customers and internal teams regarding service needs, troubleshooting efforts, and recommended solutions.
• Support mission-critical communications environments where system availability and reliability are essential.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of hands-on experience working with two-way radio and RF communications equipment.
• Proven experience diagnosing, repairing, programming, and installing RF communications systems.
• Strong background troubleshooting radios, antennas, repeaters, power supplies, and related RF infrastructure.
• Experience creating and modifying radio codeplugs with 12+ channels, trunking, and multiple zones.
• Understanding of RF fundamentals and radio frequency communication principles.
• Experience using radio programming software and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to identify and resolve equipment performance issues in field environments.
• Excellent problem-solving and customer service skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel locally to customer sites as needed.

Compensation Includes:

• Salary Range: $58,000 - $74,000 (depending on experience)
• Full Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401(k), PTO, and Sick Leave as required by law
