Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Field Service Technician to provide technical product support for our real-time, high-speed railway track measurement systems and steel measurement systems. The ideal candidate will have expertise in installation, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical, mechanical, or computer assemblies and systems. This role requires the ability to troubleshoot system failures, diagnose issues, and implement corrective actions. You will work directly with customers to ensure smooth system operations and meet customer expectations.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for railway and steel measurement systems, including installation, repair, and maintenance of electrical, mechanical, and computer-based assemblies.
- Analyze system performance, diagnose failures, and identify root causes using schematics, wiring diagrams, and test equipment.
- Assemble and test components, cables, and subassemblies following detailed drawings and specifications.
- Provide clear and actionable recommendations for corrective actions.
- Collaborate with customers to ensure optimal system functionality and customer satisfaction.
- Utilize hand tools for assembly, adjustment, and repair of mechanical system components.
- Operate testing equipment, including oscilloscopes, meters, signal generators, and power supplies.
- Participate in Continuous Improvement and Quality Assurance initiatives.
- Travel domestically and internationally to customer sites to conduct on-site service and support.
Education And Experience Requirements
- Associates degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent Military Electronics Training.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar field is highly desired.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and other computer applications.
- Prior experience with railway test and inspection services is a plus.
Qualifications And Skills
- Ability to perform work safely in various environments, adhering to all safety protocols.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to diagnose complex system failures.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with customers and team members.
- Ability to work independently, self-motivate, and remain enthusiastic in challenging situations.
- Physical ability to perform tasks involving walking, lifting, stooping, and bending.
- Ability to analyze sensor data and diagnose issues in system performance.
- Strong customer service skills with a professional attitude when working with clients.
Desired Qualifications
- Soldering training or certification.
- Experience in cable fabrication (Coaxial, Cat6, D-sub, Mil-spec connectors).
- Experience with acquisition sensors and laser technology.
- Previous experience in the railroad industry, specifically with measurement or inspection services.
Travel Requirements
- Domestic and international travel is required to provide on-site support to customers.
