Job summary

Smith Pump Company, Inc. invites a skilled Field Service Tech to join our team in Texas. You will perform pump inspection, troubleshooting, startup and maintenance, and operate mobile service rigs to support water and wastewater systems.

The role requires hands-on expertise, ability to travel ~75% across the Texas market, and strong communication with customers and colleagues. Experience as a technician or mechanic is preferred, with CDL and pump-install certification advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Experience as a service technician or mechanic.
  • Understanding of water pumps, or electrical or mechanical equipment.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to drive a commercial vehicle daily to job sites.
  • Five years of pump field service experience (preferred).
  • Certified Pump Installer by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (preferred).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (preferred).
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License (preferred).

Job Description

As a Field Service Tech at Smith Pump, you'll be at the forefront of pump inspection, troubleshooting and the operation of mobile pump service rig trucks. Your expertise will extend to, pump removal, installation, startup, and maintenance. Troubleshooting and ensuring the smooth operation of water and wastewater pumps will be your daily mission.

Travel

≈ 75% Get ready to hit the road! This role involves approximately 75% travel throughout the Texas market.

Position Requirements
Required
  • Experience as a service technician and/or mechanic.
  • Understanding of water pumps, or electrical or mechanical equipment.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain positive relationships with both employees and customers.
  • Ability to drive a commercial vehicle daily to job sites.
Preferred
  • Five (5) years of experience in pump field service and/or pump service rig work.
  • Certified Pump Installer by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.
  • Computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Class A Commercial Driver's License.
