The Field Service Technician will provide professional service and support to customers by performing system installations, startups, repairs, and maintenance of the water and wastewater treatment equipment offered by PSI, UGSI Chemical Feed, Velodyne and other subsidiaries of cleanwater1. This full‑time position will report to the Service Manager and be based out of our Vineland, NJ facility. This position requires weekly travel to jobsites, sometimes across the country or in Canada.

Essential Job Functions
  • Perform equipment startup and commissioning services including technical consultation, installation inspection and assistance, maintenance, and training to on‑site personnel and contractors.
  • Maintain composure and professionalism while addressing unexpected challenges at customer job sites, ensuring effective problem‑solving and customer confidence.
  • Provide on‑site training of customer personnel on proper operation of equipment both at the equipment and in classroom style.
  • Repair machines and systems, including rebuilds, and assist with unit refurbishments and replacements, both at facility and at customer sites.
  • Perform routine maintenance on equipment.
  • Make technical recommendations to maintenance technicians and treatment plant operators and help drive the sales of parts and services.
  • Complete accurate and detailed service reports recording repairs, warranty services, and maintenance performed.
  • Properly document, label, and return all defective parts resulting from repairs, warranty services, and maintenance.
  • Always comply with safety and personal protective equipment policies, including at customer sites that involve exposure to dangerous or hazardous conditions including compliance with our respirator and fit testing program.
  • Determine the correct tools and equipment required to perform day‑to‑day duties.
  • Work with engineering, project management, and sales teams to resolve escalated problems.
  • Ensure all materials, tools and equipment are kept safe, secure, and in good working order.
  • Ensure site work is carried out in the required order, for completion by the required timeline.
  • Travel 60‑80% of the time to customer jobsites within the continental United States
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Three to five years of experience installing/repairing/maintaining water treatment equipment or in a related field.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to use basic functions of Microsoft Office for reports and time and record keeping.
  • Machinery demonstration/pilot testing or controls knowledge.
  • Experience with electro‑mechanical pneumatics hydraulics, AC/DC motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, and pump systems.
  • Ability to diagnose technical problems and determine proper solutions.
  • Strong mechanical, technical, and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and review blueprints, plans, specifications, and other documentation to prepare for startup or service.
  • Self‑motivated with ability to work and think well independently.
  • Strong time management and organization skills.
  • Availability to work 8:00am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday, with ability and willingness to work flexible shifts and weekends and adapt to changing work schedules; and
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license with a clean driving record (MVR will be run regularly).
  • Must comply with drug testing requirements as mandated by customer site policies to ensure eligibility for on‑site access.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PLC and OIT programing and diagnostics.
  • Valid passport with ability to travel internationally.
  • Associate degree or higher in technical field or equivalent; and
  • Water or wastewater treatment license or equivalent experience.
  • Approximately 20% to 50% Light Industrial - May be exposed to areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals and industrial facilities. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions; and
  • Approximately 60% to 80% Customer Jobsites - May be exposed to a variety of weather conditions as well as areas of high noise levels, hazardous propellants, chemicals and industrial facilities. Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.
  • Exposure to liquid and dry chemicals and substances associated with water and wastewater treatment, including permanganate, polymers, sodium hypochlorite, PAC, fluoride, liquid ammonium sulfate, and others.
Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop or kneel, talk and hear, and use fingers and hands to feel objects, tools or controls.
  • Ability to climb and work at heights on towers, roofs, water towers and other elevated structures up to approximately 180 feet.
  • Ability to wear a respirator when necessary and willingness to comply with our respirator and fit testing program.
  • Must have manual dexterity to operate the equipment and tools required for this position.
  • Must be able to quickly respond (with the hand, finger or foot) to a signal (sound, light, picture) when it appears.
  • Must wear furnished uniform and maintain clean and professional appearance while working with customers, vendors and colleagues.
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 lbs.
  • Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to perform work under a variety of weather conditions.
  • Working on construction sites with exposure to dangerous conditions.

This position is non‑exempt. Compensation is dependent on skill level. The base salary range for this position is $30 to $42 an hour. Benefitspackage and incentives are provided. We generally offer employees working 21 hours per work or more medical, dental, vision, along with voluntary ancillary benefits. The Company has a 401(k)-match program and has company‑paid life and AD&D insurance available for eligible employees.
