Marathon Electric, a WEG Group company, is seeking a Field Service Technician to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electrical and mechanical issues on generators and related equipment in customer sites across the region. You will travel extensively, up to 100%, working directly with customers and coordinating with engineering teams.
The role requires 2–5 years of field service or industrial maintenance experience, plus a solid understanding of AC/DC systems and the ability to read schematics.
Are you the person others call when equipment isn’t working and no one can figure out why?
Marathon Electric is looking for a Field Service Technician who enjoys troubleshooting, solving problems, working directly with customers, and getting out from behind a desk.
This is a highly independent, hands‑on position supporting customers in the field with industrial alternators, generators, and related electrical and mechanical systems. You’ll diagnose problems, make repairs, provide technical guidance, and partner with our engineering and internal teams to solve more complex equipment issues.
This position involves extensive travel—up to 100%—and is ideal for someone who enjoys being on the road, working in different environments, and tackling a new technical challenge from one customer site to the next.
We’re looking for more than someone to fill a service role. We want a technician who is ready to build their expertise, take ownership of their work, and represent a respected name in the power generation industry.
When you join Marathon Electric, you also become part of WEG Group , a global organization with more than 40,000 employees and a presence in more than 135 countries.
We want our employees to feel supported both at work and outside of it. Here are a few of the benefits that come with joining the Marathon Electric team:
As a Field Service Technician, you’ll be the technical expert our customers rely on in the field.
We’re looking for an experienced technician who combines strong technical skills with the ability to work independently and professionally represent Marathon Electric at customer locations.
An Associate degree or technical certification in Electrical Engineering Technology, Industrial Maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
This position is based from Wausau, Wisconsin , with frequent travel to customer locations.
You’ll work in a variety of environments, including industrial facilities and outdoor locations. The position requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and safely work around electrical equipment, rotating machinery, and changing environmental conditions.
With extensive travel being an important part of this position, travel time is company paid and the position is eligible for overtime.
